Quote Postby bigglove » Wed Nov 19, 2008 2:31 am First of all, this site rocks! Now for the jeep liberty unpleasantness... I just bought a one owner 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 77,000 miles for my fiancee, and in less than 20 miles the freakin' check engine light came on! I know vintage cars very well, but new stuff blows my tiny mind... the check engine light came on at start up, and instantly the motor ran as if jeep liberty cylinder it had a blown headgasket at idle. It still has good power under load, no smoke, and smooths out considerably above idle. The trouble codes are P0300, P0301, and P0302... all other cylinders (besides 1 & 2) fire perfectly- so we swapped out coil packs/spark plugs from good cylinders- and that wasn't the issue. We also checked for an intake leak (none)... so any thoughts on what to look at next? I've read that it could be a stuck EGR, injectors (which would be weird that two failed simultaneously), a bad O2 sensor, cat, or even a bad brain... but I have no idea how to check those other than blindly replacing them one at a time. I don't really expect a response, but if you have any thoughts... I'd love to hear 'em! Daryl is online now Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 J vin: Hello Im getting a code P0302 This answer was rated: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hello I'm getting a code P0302 which is #2 cyl misfire for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 J vin. I checked the power to the #2 fuel injector and I found that the ground is not there at the connector. I read 10.4+/- volts at the power side. I thought there was a break in the ground wire somewhere close the the connector, so I changed it. And because I didn't know where the break was, I just grounded the ground wire to a post nearby. Then I got the code P0202 (which is #2 injector circuit open). So I spliced the ground back to the original ground wire. P0202 went away but I still have the P0302. I Looked at the wiring diagram and it shows a tan wire from the PCM (power control module) to the injector, then from the injector to (what I think is) the ground, since all other injectors are connected with the same colored wire DG/LG. Now, as I read "how to test a fuel injector with a multimeter" it says, "if there is no ground, it is a wiring problem or a computer problem". I bypassed the wire and went straight to ground and I did not see a computer connection on the wiring diagram. What else could it be? (I did change the injector) Share this conversation Expert: Daryl replied3 years ago. Hello and thank you for trusting me with your question.
