light flashes. Start by turning the ignition key to the last stop before it starts, on and off three times within 5 seconds ending in the on position on http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm the third time, ( i.e. on, off, on, off then on and leave ), ( OBDII 96-97, 4 times ) . The check engine light will start to flash quickly with a small pause in between https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-c2392_ds545241 then a medium pause to indicate the next number in the to digit number and then a long pause before the next set of flashing for the next code. If all is well you will get a jeep liberty code 55 which would read like this: 5 fast flashes, medium pause then a further 5 flashes. This is how all codes end with is this 55 code if you have air conditioning or with a code 33 without and any other codes would have been before it separated by a long pause. The codes will remain after this test so you can cycle through it as many times as it takes to read jeep liberty code them. After a problem has gone the code will be removed after 50 on off key cycles or if the battery left disconnected over night which will cause a code 12 though. Code Description Most likely reason 11 No crank signal to computer. Fault in wiring between crankshaft position sensor (CPS) and ECM ( PCM or computer ) or faulty CPS. 12 Battery disconnected. Battery or power to the ECM disconnected in the last 50 key cycles. 13 MAP Sensor. No change in Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) between engine off and on. Check circuit and MAP sensor. 14 MAP Sensor. MAP sensor voltage too high or low. Check circuit and sensor. 15 Speed sensor or circuit. No signal detected from speed sensor. Check circuit and sensor. 17 Engine running too cold. Wrong or faulty thermostat. Check also sensor and circuit for fault. 21 Oxygen sensor or circuit. Engine light keeps coming on indicated oxygen senors not working properly, replaced them 3 times and engine still comes back on after a week of driving. It is 2004 liberty with 148,000 miles. 0 Report Follow Asked by RCDunlop Apr 25, 2013 at 12:44 PM about the 2004 Jeep Liberty Question type: Maintenance & Repair anyone else having this problem and if so what did you do to resolve it. 15 Answers 203,415 Report Tom answered 3 years ago 3 times? Getting an O2 codes doesn't walways mean it's the sensors themselves. There is another issue that will cause the O2 not to get the proper reading, tripping a code. Time for a trip to your mechanic. 12 out of 12 people think this is helpful. Mark helpful Report migration_judge_roy answered 3 years ago why would they do this Tom? completely entombed in calcium deposits? burned down to the marrow with rich exhaust? 4 out of 4 people think this is helpful. Mark helpful Report migration_judge_roy answered 3 years ago What was your mode of failure RCDunlop? sensor stopped emitting signal because the signal was blocked or because the sensor was burned away? Mark helpful 0 Report RCDunlop answered 3 years ago It was a mechanic that worked on it and replaced the sensors. He told me the next thing would be the computer board. Does that sound right? Mark helpful Report migration_judge_roy answered 3 years ago ...not really, the the reason the sensors are failing should be the area of concern. The ECU is probably faithfully doing it's job based on the data it's been given...should start looking for a vacuum leak, perhaps from/to devices such as the EGR fuel pressure regulator, evaporative canister vacuum and many places...personally would replace all vacuum lines with silicone rubber (the kind BMW uses) summit racing is one supplier, because butyl rubber is notorious for splitting, swelling and not keepin' it's end of the deal up~ 2 out of 2 people think this is helpful. Best Answer Mark helpful Report migration_judge_roy answered 3 years ago ...always get your parts back...this way we know if it's really been replaced...my mother had this problem with her '73 gremlin and was charged for a new starter~many hours of jurisprudence for something that was small peanuts~ Mark helpful Report migration_judge_roy answered 3 years ago got a propane torch? wave it over all the vacuum connections [unlit, of course] and note a change in rpm's----that's what should be replaced..
