Now my odometer says 'Error' all the time. Otherwise, my 2008 Liberty runs fine.Has anyone run into this issue on a Jeep? Does anyone know why this happened? And better yet, how do you fix this?Thank you. Top #3472174 - 09/02/14 07:31 PM Re: Odometer says "Error" - 2008 Jeep Liberty [Re: Ranger1] KCJeep Registered: 06/30/11 Posts: 6440 Loc: Mahzurrah! You can try the turn-key-codes procedure to see if it will reset. If you are not familiar with it, turn the key on then back off three times within 5 seconds, just far enough to turn everything on without actually engaging the starter. The last time you turn it off it should give you codes, or in your case maybe it will reset. If that doesn't work I'd try disconnecting the battery again for over 30 minutes before reconnecting it.If that doesn't work t

It's free! I replaced the battery and cable ends on my wife's 2008 Liberty. Since replacing the battery she has had an ERROR message where the odometer reading should be. She has driven it this way for a couple thousand miles and it has not changed. Is there a way to reset this error message. She tried the key turning http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f225/error-message-odometer-53222/ on and off exercise without results. Unfortunately I'm not there at the moment to try myself. Any Suggestions? That resets things like the engine light. Maybe it will fix your issue. I just had to replace a water pump, tensioner and drive belt. This light came on after that work was done. Thanks Submitted: 5 years ago. Category:Jeep Share this conversation Expert: Chris replied5 years ago. Hello and welcome to just answer. That error message may mean that there is an internal problem with the instrument cluster. Try this : with the ignition off jeep liberty odometer press and hold the odometer reset button and while holding the button turn the ignition to the run position. Continue to hold the button for about 2 seconds then release it. This will put the cluster into a self test mode. Let me know what happens and if there is a code displayed at the end of the test. Chris Ask Your Own Jeep Question Customer: replied5 years ago. I tried this twice and the cluster went into the self test mode. At the end of the tyest, the "Error" was still showing in the odometer window Expert: Chris replied5 years ago. Ok, let me check something, and I will be back.Chris Ask Your Own Jeep Question Expert: Chris replied5 years ago. It looks like your cluster has failed internally. This is not caused by the other work that was done, but is a coincidence. Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 2 minutes and then reconnect it. If the problem still occurs, then have the cluster replaced.I hope this helps, and let me know if you need further assistance with this.Chris Chris and 5 other Jeep Specialists are read
