I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your Jenn Air range displaying an error code. We are here to help. On a Jenn Air range the error code f1-8 indicates a shorted key in the membrane switch. That component normally needs to be replaced to fix this type of problem. There are times when corrosion of the wire harness connections, or a loose wiring connection could cause that code to be displayed. You can unplug the range and check those wiring connections. Clean the contacts and reassemble the range. If the code returns, then you will need to replace that membrane keypad which is part of the control panel. The part number is 74005739. The image below will help you in checking and replacing the control panel. To order parts please visit SearsPartsDirect.com with the model number. If you do not feel confident rep

JGS8850ADB began beeping and displaying error code F1-8; at around same time it began demanding that I insert meat probe while baking. The meat probe message would continue until bake function either shut itself off or I turned it off after whacking "Cancel" a few dozen times, then would not come back during rest of bake duration.Turning off oven power at circuit breaker overnight took care of F1-8 for http://applianceguru.com/forum1/15212.html a while. A couple of weeks ago, F1-8 no longer disappeared during nightly shutdown and touchpad became inoperable. Ordered new ERC, replaced it today. Still get F1-8. When I disconnected touchpad ribbon from ERC, it thenshows F1-7 error code (with no touchpad connected, this at least makes sense to me, I guess). So...does this mean that in addition to a toasted ERC I also need to replace the touch pad? The top burners are functional, but when the code is flashing, the oven itself will not work. I turned off the circuit breaker to the unit but within 30 jenn air gas minutes of turning it back on, the beeping and flashing started again. My understanding from researching the codes is that the Control Panel Assembly may need to be replaced or possibly the clock...or maybe the membrane is disconnected and the ribbon cable needs to be checked. Is it likely to be obvious to me what the problem is when I remove the control panel as to which of these issues might be the problem? Thanks for the help. First check the ribbon cable and make sure it is connected properly and that there are no signs of damage to the cable. If everything is good there, then either the touchpad or control board is bad and will need to be replaced. There is no way to determine 100% which part is bad, so you will have to make an educated guess. I will need the serial number from the range to look up the control board. Here is the touchpad control panel for your model: Control Panel Assembly - Part # PD000036
