K9nbpm2-fid Error

ran their Live Update 5 program which showed that I could update my Bios among other things. I selected the new bios for download, followed the instructions for the Windows flash (vs Dos flash). Seemed to go ok but now Windows 7 won't boot. It does go through the boot process then comes to a screen that ask to start Windows normally or go into System Recovery Options. If I try to start normally, I get the windows logo where it says Windows and the four colored dots start moving, then it reboots. If I go into System Recovery Options, and I go through startup repair i get the following in the Diagnosis and repair details: Root cause found: A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding. All thoughts appreciated. Thank you. carsick, Dec 10, 2011 #1 StrangleHold Moderator Staff Member Messages: 19,452 Reset the bios by the jumpper on the board or take the battery out for a few minutes. Do this with the computer off and unplugged. Then if it still ask the same, go into the bios and in the exit options pick Load Optimized Defaults, then Save and Exit. If it still does it, go into the bios and make sure your harddrive is set in the boot order. StrangleHold, Dec 10, 2011 #2 carsick New Member Messages: 48 Thx for the quick reply. Followed all your instructions, no luck. My system is setup with mirrored drives using the fastbuild utility. Could this be part of the problem? In the CMOS setup Utility the IDE Primary and Slave along with SATA1 show up as Not Detected but in the boot sequence the hard drive shows up as RAIDDC42819 A carsick, Dec 10, 2011 #3 carsick New Member Messages: 48 Well, I will never purchase anything MSI again. No support, they can't even comprehend basic english. Can I just purchase a new motherboard, drop it in and be up and running again? or is it more complicated than that? Thx. carsick, Dec 10, 2011 #4 johnb35 Administrator Staff Member Messages: 37,495 carsick said: ↑ Well, I will never purchase anything MSI again. No support, they can't even comprehend basic engl

It has an Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core 4600+ processor which should have ADM SVM built-in.   Installing Hyper-V works great, so I guess the http://www.computerforum.com/threads/msi-flash-bios-failed-k9nbpm2-fid.204667/ CPU does support hardware virtualization features ( - I had a machine without that support and Hyper-V wouldn't install). Adding a new VM works great but starting them leads me to the error message everyone might know. It states that the hypervisor couldn't start and that I need to enable the support in BIOS.   This is where https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/5cc561ad-99f6-404a-a789-1ab42550944a/enabling-hardware-virtualization?forum=winserverhyperv the machine sucks. There's no switch in the machine's BIOS - even after the most current BIOS update - that lets me enable the support. HP's support guys don't seem to know much about this stuff, they always talk about "We do not support Windows Server 2008 on that machine" - although it's not directly related to WS2008 but the lack of a BIOS enable/disable feature.   Any chance I can enable the support with some other method? Or am I lost and alone with that machine and that BIOS as long as HP doesn't come up with a solution?   Thanks,   Florian Wednesday, March 26, 2008 9:50 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote This is a F2 revision processor. You need to check with your system manufacturer for an updated BIOS.   Wednesday, March 26, 2008 11:19 PM Reply | Quote Owner All replies 0 Sign in to vote 1. Confirm that your processor really does support virtualization. Maybe you can find that information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o

I quadruple checked the fan's power connection and it is correct. The fan works when plugged into the fan connection on a Gigabyte motherboard (although I can't get it http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-24766.html to POST). Two different power supplies have been tried - both brand new. While the system does not POST, the heat sink is getting warm (I power down within 30 seconds to avoid damage). I switched out my dual Crossfire ATI cards for a single Nvidia 295 that I've been very happy with. However this is well outside the $150.00 price range.
