I'm not an expert on digital cameras but wondered why you wanted to reformat the card? I have a digital camera (fujifilm e550) and have never had to reformat the card. I did a quick google search and came up with a few answers. One of the search results is quoted and linked below. Doesn't sound like good news. You may have a damaged card installed in the camera. Either try another card, or try to reformat the card. If you have an external card reader (external to your PC) then try to put the card into that device and see if your computer can recognize the card --> if you have images on there, you may be able to recover them.
