September 14, 2015 12:21 Question: la noire patch 2382 not opening Every time I try to play L.A. Noire, an error message appears saying "PCGS4: la noire mandatory patch manual download Malformed settings file. Please delete settings.ini and restart the game." I tried deleting the settings file but the same thing happens. la noire mandatory patch download How can I fix this? Answer: If you received a "Binary Error" patching error the first time you ran the update, please refer to the following troubleshoowing steps to recover from the failed installation: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/sections/200034616--L-A-Noire-PC-Patch-Information- http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/20632076-error-patching-error-binary-patching-file-what-to-do-if-a-patch-fails-to-install-in-l-a-noire-for-pc Sometimes windows will keep the LANoire.exe running while it's patching. This can cause some files to get updated when they shouldn't be. Fix 1: Open your My Documents Open Rockstar Games folder Open LANoire folder Delete the Settings.ini file Don't run the launcher!!! Instead open this folder –Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\L.A. NoireWindows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire Now run the LANoire.exe This should run the game without https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200149846--PCGS4-Malformed-Settings-File-error-in-L-A-Noire-for-PC any problems. You will have to change their display settings via the in game options. Fix 2: Make sure you have the LANoire discs available. Open the folder where LANoire is installed: Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire, Windows 7/Vista: C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire Delete the following files from your install directory: Cases, LANLauncher.exe, LANoire.exe, MainContent, All the read me files (readmeFRA, readmeDEU, readmeESP, readmeITA and readmeENG), Any Patch files (Patch_2382_0xxxx_1.exe) The number of these you have will depend on the number of patches you've previously downloaded, Any Social Club installers (Social Club v1.0.5.0 Setup.exe and Social Club v1.0.6.1 Setup.exe) Once they've all been delete insert the LA Noire Disc 1 in to your Disc Drive.Click on 'My Computer' and 'Right-Click' on the LANoire icon.Select Open (Explorer on XP) Now run the Setup.exe When the window appears, select REPAIR If it asks you to change disc, insert disc 2. Once this has finished, Run the L.A.Noire shortcut on your desktop. Select Play. If none of these fixes work: Uninstall L.A. Noire Uninstall Social Club (note that this is a separate application on your computer) Re-install L.A. Noire from scratch Was this article helpful? 11 out of 14 found this helpful Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google+ Have more quest
awesome game (note: NON-STEAM, I still ask here for help because people will probably answer here most) for Christmas last year. Installed perfectly, could play it, but didn't finish it. So I de-installed it again to save Disk Space (I'm playing on a gaming laptop with a REALLY small harddrive). Now I want to reinstall it again, works. The adventure begins with the patching. The common problem where the patch times out, then gets stuck with "YMYPATCH_Settings.dat 100%". I took a look at the Rockstar Support page where I get told to install the patch manually. (http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/20632076-error-patching-error-binary-patching-file-what-to-do-if-a-patch-fails-to-install-in-l-a-noire-for-pc) Works as well. So I try to start the game, get an error message stating I had a malformed settings.ini file. Rockstar's helpful help page tells me to delete the settings.ini and start the game without the launcher. It helps, but only if I never ever open the launcher again. If I do, the message appears again. So I cannot fill in any boot commands (like -windowed), which would require opening the launcher. (http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/20998476-pcgs4-malformed-settings-file-error-in-l-a-noire-for-pc) Starting up, another error message, this tim about "Failed to create d3d resources". Rockstar tells me to update my drivers and DirectX. Did both, still doesn't work. (http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/20689112-failed-to-create-d3d-resource-error-at-boot-for-l-a-noire-on-pc) Various threads in forums across the interwebz state that changing the boot options of the launcher might help or stuff that is already on the Rockstar page. So I'm now stuck between the settings.ini which I got somehow fixed, but restricts me from using possible solutions to the d3d problem. So, does anybody have found any solution regarding this problem yet? I'm sure I'm not the only one having this. Oh and please, don't come up with "Restart your computer", "Reinstall your game" and stuff like this, because I've tried that countless times with no result. I've already given up hope to ever play again. Thanks for reading all this. chalkman06-12-2012, 09:27 AMCould you try editing the settings.ini file to set their values to the lowest possible graphical settings? Might not be all that easy, but it is a thought. ZeroSupport06-12-2012, 12:31 PMLowest possible graphical settings? I don't know them, but I can try opening the Launcher and checking them there. I'll try it. Edit:
