But i saved the contents of that directory with the error and i can reproduce the exception by restoring the files back into the WorkingDirectory. code snippet: service = new DefaultDirectoryService(); service.getChangeLog().setEnabled( false ); service.setDenormalizeOpAttrsEnabled( true ); service.setAccessControlEnabled(true); service.startup(); Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.directory.server.xdbm.search.impl.EqualityEvaluator.evaluate(EqualityEvaluator.java:139) at org.apache.directory.server.xdbm.search.impl.EqualityEvaluator.evaluate(EqualityEvaluator.java:132) at org.apache.directory.server.xdbm.search.impl.AndCursor.matches(AndCursor.java:230) at org.apache.directory.server.xdbm.search.impl.AndCursor.next(AndCursor.java:140) at org.apache.directory.server.core.partition.impl.btree.ServerEntryCursorAdaptor.next(ServerEntryCursorAdaptor.java:179) at org.apache.directory.server.core.filtering.BaseEntryFilteringCursor.next(BaseEntryFilteringCursor.java:498) at org.apache.directory.server.core.ReferralManagerImpl.init(ReferralManagerImpl.java:162) at org.apache.directory.server.core.ReferralManagerImpl.
