successfully. 1 LDAP_OPERATIONS_ERROR Indicates an internal error. The server is unable to respond with a more specific error and is also unable to properly respond to a request. It does not indicate that the client has sent an erroneous message. In NDS 8.3x through NDS 7.xx, this was the default error for NDS errors that did not map to an LDAP error code. To conform to the new LDAP drafts, NDS 8.5 uses 80 (0x50) for such errors. 2 LDAP_PROTOCOL_ERROR Indicates that the server has received an invalid or malformed request from the client. 3 LDAP_TIMELIMIT_EXCEEDED Indicates that the operation's time limit specified by either the client or the server has been exceeded. On search operations, incomplete results are returned. 4 LDAP_SIZELIMIT_EXCEEDED Indicates that in a search operation, the size limit specified by the client or the server has been exceeded. Incomplete results are returned. 5 LDAP_COMPARE_FALSE Does not indicate an error condition. Indicates that the results of a compare operation are false. 6 LDAP_COMPARE_TRUE Does not indicate an error condition. Indicates that the results of a compare operation are true. 7 LDAP

is this happening and how can I fix it?Solution: The error "LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded" is an indication that too many search results are being returned by the search filter using http://wiki.servicenow.com/index.php?title=LDAP_Error_Codes an LDAP Data Store. This refers to the number of LDAP objects found in the search and does have anything to do with the existence of multi-valued attributes for a single object. For example, if a search finds one user, and that user is a memberOf attribute for multiple Groups or has multiple values of the "email" attribute, that will not generate this error and it will be handled cleanly https://ping.force.com/Support/PingIdentityArticle?id=kA340000000GsD6CAK by PingFederate. Essentially the LDAP interface is relaying a limitation set on the LDAP server. Some LDAP implementations have both a global setting and a per-account setting available to limit the size of the response sent back from the server. The directory server imposes a limit on: the number of objects to return from a search the amount of time spent on a search the number of entries to examine when creating the candidates list In addition an LDAP client can set explicit limits for any of the above when it initiates a search. Without reference to any Profile set up for the bind account, PingFederate is asking for exactly one result in most cases (the exception is the SaaS Provisioner.) Therefore if the combination of SearchBase and SearchFilter has more than one match this error will display. You should look at the search filter to confirm that it is specific enough to get exactly what is needed and is not too broad. (i.e. "abc" and not "a") Some examples of search failures with LDAP Error 4 are: The Search Filter uses "sAMAccountName=${username} where username comes from the Adapter. The Search Base includes multiple AD Domains. Normally in AD the sAMAccountName of a User object is expected to be u

Resolution Ensure the User Directories Advanced Settings have 'Use ldap error code Paged Results' enabled. Consult with your LDAP/AD System Administrator to see what this number should be set to as it depends on the LDAP/AD server configuration. integrated with SunONE LDAP Server, the following error is logged in atlassian-crowd.log file; org.codehaus.xfire.XFireRuntimeException: Could not invoke service.. Nested exception is org.codehaus.xfire.fault.XFireFault: [LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded]; nested exception is javax.naming.SizeLimitExceededException: [LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded]; remaining name 'ou=xxxxx,dc=xxxxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxxxxxx,dc=xxx' Symptom 2: Testing a Directory Connector fails! Performing a test search in the Directory Connector Configuration tab fails with similar error. Cause Cause for Symptom 1. SunONE doesn't support data paging Cause for Symptom 2. This is a known bug which is fixed in Crowd 2.0.3. The fix works for Connector Directories only. The Delegated Directories may present the problem but it would not impact the normal directory functioning. Resolution Resolution for Cause 1. Set LDAP property search-size-limit to a higher value. The value (the default being 2000) depends on the maximum number of elements (users, groups and roles) your Crowd server will have to fetch at once from the LDAP server. Resolution for Cause 2. The bug is fixed in Crowd 2.0.3, if you are affected by this issue please upgrade to the latest Crowd version. What if these don't work? Please have a look over this KBUnable to Log In with Confluence 3.5 or Later Due to 'LDAP error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded'which involves turning off paged results. Was this helpful?
