Cause This situation occurs if the "Check passwords on Notes IDs" field is enabled in the Server ibm career Document --> Security panel and the Password Digest field (Person Document --> Administration panel --> Password Management section) has not been updated with the latest password change information. Diagnosing the problem Troubleshooting: * In the Names & Address Book (NAB) Person Document for the affected user: Verify the setting in the Administration panel --> Password Management section. In the Server Document --> Security panel, make sure dominoes the "Check passwords on Notes IDs" field has the correct setting. * Check any group's Deny Access and verify that the user hasn't been added to any group in this section. * Were any changes made to this user just prior to receiving the error message. In one case, a user had requested a password change. * Check the Administration Process Request database (admin4.nsf) to determine if an admin request was sent to the admin server that could affect this user (such as the change password request). What should happen with the request: Triggered by: The person changing the password when prompted during authentication. Carried out on: The administration server for the Domino Directory. Carried out: Immediately. Result: Creates a password digest. Populates the "Last change date" field and updates the "Password digest" with the encrypted password digest for the password in the user's Person document. Check the Person Document for the "Last change date" and if it is not the correct date, it means that the administration request was not completed for this user.
