Lotus Notes Error During Main Dictionary Spell Initialization
foreign language dictionary. Spell Checker; inline spell check; language; dic; spanish; french; german; pop-up error Technote (troubleshooting) Problem User is trying to add foreign language dictionary to the Notes Basic client and copied the .dic file from the server's Domino/Data folder to the local Notes/Data folder. After setting the new language as the default under Spell Check preferences, when trying to run spell check, they get the error: "Error during main dictionary spell initialization" Resolving the problem In this case, the .dic file (espana.dic) was copied from a Domino 8.5.1 data folder to a Notes 8.0.2 client. The error is due to the version mismatch. Copying the language dictionary from a server that's the same version as the client, resolved the problem.
