Ls2j Error Java Virtual Machine Failed To Start

Upgrade error Technote (FAQ) Question After upgrading to IBM Lotus Domino R6, the following error messages display on the server console and the HTTP task does not load: date/time AM HTTP JVM: Exception date/time AM HTTP JVM: in thread date/time AM HTTP JVM: "main" date/time AM HTTP JVM: date/time AM JVM: Native methods for class lotus/notes/internal/AgentOutputStream could not be loaded. date/time AM JVM: Registration of JVM native methods failed. date/time AM JVM: Java Virtual Machine failed to start date/time AM HTTP Server: Error Loading Java Virtual Machine date/time AM HTTP Server: JVM: Missing entrypoint in JVM runtime library. date/time AM HTTP Server: Shutdown Answer This situation occurs because the server's Notes.INI file contains a variable named JavaUserClasses that refers to older Notes Java packages that were used in Notes R5. The references to these packages were not removed from the JavaUserClasses variable by the Domino 6 upgrade. Extract from server NOTES.INI: javaUserClasses=E:\Lotus\Domino\Data\domino\java\jt400.jar;E:\Lotus\Domino\Data\domino\java\NCSO.jar;E:\Lotus\Domino\notes.jar;E:\Lotus\Domino\jsdk.jar Removing the reference to NCSO.jar, Notes.jar and Jsdk.jar from this line in the Domino R6 Notes.INI file allows the HTTP task to load as expected. JavaUserClasses=E:\Lotus\Domino\Data\domino\java\jt400.jar Additionally, the NCSO.jar, Notes.jar and Jsdk.jar packages should not be referred to in this variable in either in Domino R6 or R5, since they are internal Notes Java package. Only external User packages should be listed in this variable.
