However, MAPI can be used to deliver messages from an application such as CTI Navigator Desktop internally in Windows http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_outlook-mso_other/outlook-mapi-error-2-sending-email/cc8c6399-961a-456b-868d-1577068e8a1c only to one default email program. If you have multiple email programs installed in Windows and sending MLS reports out of CTI Navigator Desktop is encountering a MAPI or unspecified error, one or more email programs may be interfering with MAPI delivering messages internally to your preferred default email program, or Windows no longer associates MAPI with your preferred program. First ensure that the correct email program is set as the default Email Handler for Windows. To set http://www.ctimls.com/support/kb/error%20fixes/fix_mapi_error.htm the default mail handler in Windows 10 or 8.1, right-click on Start > select Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs > click on the appropriate email program in the list > select "Choose defaults for this program" > under MAPI, check "Send Mail" and click Save > click on the appropriate email program in the list (again) > select “Set this program as default”> OK. To set the default mail handler in Windows 7 or Windows Vista, click Start > Default Programs > Set your default programs >click on the appropriate email program in the list > select "Choose defaults for this program" > under MAPI, check "Send Mail" and click Save > click on the appropriate email program in the list (again) > select “Set this program as default”> OK. To determine which program is set as the default mail handler in Windows XP, open the Windows Control Panel > select Internet Options (under " Network and Internet" in the Category View) > Programs tab > Email box. You can click the down arrow beside the email box to change the default mail handler in Windows. If your preferred email program is not listed, it is not registered properly in Windows. In this case, un-install the email program and re-install it. If the correct email program is set as the default, configure Windows' "Program Access" to you

Here's the short version XP -SP2 no firewall, no anti virus, no spy ware I'm using thunderbird 1.0 (windows) Early Jan, I installed Simply accounting 2005 basic I tested the send invoice via e-mail and it worked fine 2 weeks later When I sent an invoice via e-mail I get An error occured in resloving name Return Code: 2 MAPI_E_FAILURE I have no other mapi enabled software to test, I check the microsoft site with little results Simply's site said if you get this error, you don't have a mapi e-mail client I switch to outlook express same error. This look more like a windows mapi error, but I'm out of resources (except here) Any help or direction would be welcome Regards Danny (DHC) Jim D Posts: 1611Joined: December 29th, 2004, 10:56 am Posted February 3rd, 2005, 1:19 am MAPI is a proprietary standard. Are you sure that TB supports it? Most people use IMAP or POP. When they do this the application is not aware what email client is being called. Thunderbirds SimpleMAPI support is buggy, it works fine with some applications, and doesn't for others. It sounds like an error occurred while the application made a MapiResolveName() call to display a dialog box to resolve an ambiguous recipient name. MAPI_E_FAILURE is a catchall error code meaning one or more errors returned, which not very usefull. MapiResolveName() is one of the twelve SimpleMAPI functions. I read http://www.simplyaccounting.com/techsup ... xkbid=5811 which states that "E-mail program that is used is not MAPI compliant." and that "the default e-mail must be Microsoft Outlook." Outlook supports ExtendedMAPI, while Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora and most email clients only support SimpleM
