no problems since I've installed it for 2 months or so. So I uninstalled it to see if it would fix the problem. After uninstalling for a little while, before I had rebooted, it suddenly bsod'ed. When it booted up again, I checked

device manager to see what driver it was using. It seemed to say it was Nvidia, I'm not completely sure. I ran drive sweeper and tried to erase the remaining traces of it, but the problem remained. I pressed the uninstall (advanced) tab in the graphics card properties to try and uninstall the driver again, when it was done, the graphics card was missing from my device manager list. I rebooted and although the card was back in the list, most of the time the would just nmi parity check memory parity error dell crash right after startup. Now when I press the power button it boots up, but 90% of the time, the screen is black, (sometimes I get the blue screen, but it is a bit garbled) and I can't see to try and fix the problem. When I actually can see something, it just crashes at startup. The last time, I pressed the MediaDirect button, and it booted into it and then the screen went into a garbled blue screen which had the message: Harware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support NMI Parity Check / Memory Parity Error The system has halted. Sorry for such a long post, but I want to give as much information as possible. Since I have 2 exams next week, I'd like it to be fixed as soon as possible and get my notes off the computer. Memtest86+ is another option, if you want to download it. Vista also has a memory tester built-in... I haven't used it though. swarmer, Oct 28, 2008 #3 Syusuke Notebook

Now every time I start up my computer it comes up with the same screen. I've researched online and found out it may be my ram so I changed it but the same screen came up everytime. What is the problem with it? PLEASE HELP Is it fixable? *** hardware malfunction call your hardware vendor for support nmi parity check memory parity error *** The system has halted *** Update: I forgot to add that my laptop starts up normally it shows the hard drive loading and all the flashing buttons work it just always comes up with that screen Update 2: Update: I had a friend come over and he is a semi computer handy man. The hard drive, ram work fine because we tried them on the same laptop model. He is suggesting that no power is going to the screen or it could be the motherboard. 1 following 2 answers 2 Report Abuse Are you sure you want to delete this answer? When using the laptop in Windows XP the graphics become corrupted (resembles something like an image in a memory parity error magic eye book), then it is followed by the blue screen of death, with the following message: Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support NMI: Parity check / Memory parity error *The system has halted* I ran the Dell diagnostics program that came pre-installed on the hard drive, and every single test passed with no errors whatsoever, I'm talking EVERY TEST, not just the memory one. I also tried the M$ Windows Memory Diagnostic program and the tests passed on that too. Anyway, it looks like the problem isn't hardware related since I didn't get any errors during testing on either programs, plus I've only had graphics corruption in Windows XP and not in DOS. Does anyone know what could be causing the problem, could it be the graphics card drivers?
