Also, sometimes SMTP servers get configured to only accept messages from their own IP, or something similarly restrictive. This is especially true for IIS when only IIS is sending mail through the server. share|improve this answer answered Sep 30 '09 at 15:10 squillman 33.3k868126 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote i think 550 is mail relay is not allowed, so you not in relay list share|improve this answer answered Sep 30 '09 at 15:02 alexus

listname@zensoftware.co.uk" when sending to a MDaemon list that isn''t private? Question: Why do I 550 smtp error network solutions get "550 Sorry, bob@zensoftware.co.uk (headers) is not allowed to send mail to listname@zensoftware.co.uk" when sending to a MDaemon list that isn't private? Answer: http://serverfault.com/questions/70274/550-sorry-mail-to-that-recipient-is-not-accepted-5-7-1/70275 In some cases if you create a MDaemon list (or edit an existing MDaemon list) and removethe private status by unticking "Only list members can post to this list" then you can find that despite this changesit's still not possible for email addresses that aren't already on the https://www.zensoftware.co.uk/kb/Knowledgebase/Why-do-I-get-550-Sorry-bob@zensoftwarecouk-headers-is-not-allowed-to-send-mail-to-listname@zensoftwa list to successfully send email to it. Usually this is because the editing you performed on the list was either done via WebAdmin or a "configuration" session of the MDaemon Interface and the change to "Only list members can post to this list" hasn't been adopted by the main MDaemon Interface. To ascertain if this is the cause of the issue either via direct access to MDaemon or via a RDP session that connects to the console session of the MDaemon machine check that Lists -> Edit Lists -> {listname} -> Settings -> "Only list members can post to this list" is definately unticked in the main MDaemon Interface and if it isn't untick it and this should resolve the issue. For full details regarding how to RDP to the console session of a Windows machine please see http://www.zensoftware.co.uk/kb/article.aspx?id=10122
