You either need to permanently delete some items (short term fix) or increase the available storage to the exchange database (long term fix). 0 LVL 6 Overall: Level 6 Exchange 3 MS Server OS 1 SBS 1 Message Expert Comment by:jaustin12007-09-19 What version of Outlook is it? I believe that versions of Outlook prior to Outlook 2003 have a 2GB .pst file size limit. If I read your question correctly, your users are not leaving the messages on the server, but rather are offloading them to a .pst, which will have a 2GB size limit (if an older version of Outlook). 0 LVL 38 Overall: Level 38 SBS 29 Exchange 13 MS Server OS 12 Message Active 2 days ago Accepted Solution by:Philip Elder2007-09-19 In the Server Console, go to advanced management, Right click on Exchange

The FE Server is 2003 SP2 Standard The BE Server is 2003 SP2 Ent We are at 77GB and one of our users is getting a error saying: The message store has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in this message store, select some items that you no longer need, permanently (SHIFT+ DEL) delete them. This is only happening to one user. As of right now. This user is about to hit a 2GB mailbox size. However, there are users with mailboxes larger than that. If all the mailboxes are on the BE server would there be no limit to the message store? Also, the FE server is reporting that it has reached its limit. How would I start to fix this? If I have to take the FE server out of the loop, how would I go about doing that. I recreated the mail profile for the user and the error message went away; however, I am afraid that this may come up again in the near future.
