I have installed the epel-release 6.5 package to enable the EPEL package repository. When I try to install the octave using yum, the following errors are returned: Error: Package: 6:octave-3.4.2-2.el6.x86_64 (epel) Requires: libfftw3.so.3()(64bit) Error: Package: 6:octave-3.4.2-2.el6.x86_64 (epel) Requires: libfftw3f.so.3()(64bit) Error: Package: 6:octave-3.4.2-2.el6.x86_64 (epel) Requires: libglpk.so.0()(64bit) I tried to use yum to search for the packages libfftw3, libfftw3f, libglpk, fftw3,fftw3f, and glpk. However, it was not able to find any of these packages. I am wondering if anybody knows Should I try to find the packages by the names fftw3,fftw3f, and glpk? Or should I search for the names libfftw3, libfftw3f, libglpk? Does this mean I have to try to find the required dependency packages online? Is there a reliable website providing these RPM packages for RHEL Workstation 6? A few days ago I installed Fedora and yesterday I started installing/configurating programs. I'm using Fedora 8 wit x86 64 bit (what a surprise ) and I noticed, that I have a lot of " Missing Dependency" Errors with yum. I wondered if this is a single error, because of new packages, so i change my mirror in yum, without any effect. Then I thought about just waiting for a new package, but momently i noticed this problems with 3 oder 4 programs, so I thought there might something wrong with my yum. Maybe or moreover probably it has to do with i386 packets and x86 packages, but I haven't got any idea, what I can do. Here are several errors: Code: yum install mplayer .... Error: Missing Dependency: libdvdnavmini.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package mplayer yum install rhythmbox ... Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.2 is needed by package rhythmbox Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.2()(64bit) is needed by package rhythmbox yum clean all ... yum update .... Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-x86_64 = 2.6.23.14-107.fc8 is needed by package kmod-nvidia-2.6.23.14-107.fc8 If this Errors woudln't be eoungh, look at this: Code: yum install wine ...
