I have a database that I created in Access 2003 that creates a report. The report runs fine when I run it on my computer using Access 2003, but gets and error 'There was an error executing the command.' when I try to run it on another machine running Access 2007. I don't know where to look even to find out what this error means and can't find any posts on it. Which brings up a general question on the search feature on this site... When I try to search for key words error executing command I get all posts with any of these words. Is there an option to search for only posts with all of these words? I see it in the FAQ section, but not here. kessmiller View Public Profile Find More Posts by kessmiller 03-21-2011, 02:54 PM #2 gemma-the-husky Super Moderator Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: UK Posts: 13,140 Thanks: 50 Thanked 885 Times in 857 Posts Re: What does 'error executing the command' mean? i take it you are using the MS switchboard that message is a generic message for any switchboard command that fails maybe the switchboard item isn't set up correctly. maybe the target doesn't exist. maybe the target form/report just didn't open. they all produce a similar cryptic message. i actually modify my switchboard code to provide a more meaningful response. try opening the form/report directly - see if it opens. if it does, then there may be something wrong in the switchboard code. __________________ Dave (Male!) Applying Control Source before executing next line of code I have some code ms access 2003 which sets the control source of a text box. Later in my code I want to use the value of that text box. However sometimes I get an error. Generally if I run the code it works okay but if in break mode it doesn't work. Now I'm running the code in a slightly different way, I keep getting the error. I think what's happening is that the control source isn't being applied until after the code has finished executing and so when I try to use the value of the text box it's producing an error. Switchboard error on a particular page Using Access 2003. I have three different groups. I am using a switchboard to organize things. I have several reports for each group that I run on pages run from the switchboard. One particular page gives me an error "There was an error executing the command." I don't understand if its the same switchboard with different pages why it would give an error on onepage and not the other? They are basically the same report for each group. I have a database that is in Microsoft Access 2003. It's been working fine. All of the sudden an error is coming up & no one can get into the database. The error is "There was an error executing the command". Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? Update: The link didn't help. But thanks. We figured it out. The database was not pointing to the data any longer. Someone had moved the file & deleted the permissions. So they moved it back & gave us permissions & it works!
