box #Name? I know this field exists, it's right beside the text box. Funny thing is it worked yesterday. Any ideas? Did I hit a switch or an option that disable functions??? Error, text box can not find reference Look closely whether you have added a space by mistake before/after the word Location, like [ Location]*2 or [Location ]*2 __________________ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. It's quick & easy. #Name? error message in Access Form P: 3 jkriner #Name? error message in Access Form -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello I have created a simple database #name access 2007 with 4 tables (all the same fields in each table). I then created a form and copied ms access reserved error (-1524) it 3 times (renaming the forms according to the table names). I changed the recource source in each form to reflect the corresponding table but now access form disappears in form view in some of the fields (in the copied forms) I am getting a #Name? message in a couple of the fields. Any help would be great... thanks :) Jul 26 '07 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 4 Replies Expert Mod 10K+ http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=237483 P: 12,110 Rabbit It probably means your field names from your record source don't match up with the control source property of the controls on the form. Jul 26 '07 #2 reply P: 3 jkriner ok, I just copied the original form (ie. table09 goes with form09 and then I copied form09 3 times and renamed them form10, form 11, form12...there is data in each of the tables (table 9, table10, table11, table12) that shows up in the corresponding forms, but how do I get the https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/683767-name-error-message-access-form fields to match up? I am somewhat clueless (as you can tell) when creating anything in access and that is why I copied the form three times so I wouldn't have to redesign it each time) thanks so much Jul 26 '07 #3 reply Expert 100+ P: 1,206 JKing First I suggest checking the record source for each form. Open up the form properties and make sure you have the right table set for each form. For example Form9 should be set as table9, form10 set as table10. Once this is done open the properties for any textboxes that are giving you a #name error. There is drop down for the control source property. Select the proper field name from the list. This should get rid of any errors you have. Jul 26 '07 #4 reply Expert Mod 10K+ P: 12,110 Rabbit If the tables have different field names, then the controls on the form that reference those field names will be wrong because they're using the field names from the original form. You have to change the control source property of the control to reflect the field names in the table. Advertisement keithchiv Thread Starter Joined: Aug 26, 2010 Messages: 2 I have used a long and complex calculation in a form involving a number of fields to http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/Name-error-IIF-functio-t1930712.html calculate the value of another field. The exact same calculation and field names works perfectly on another form, but not on this one. (Similar, even greater, length calculations with different fields work perfectly on this ms access form). It returns #Name error unless I give the field a fixed value. i.e. as soon as I start using one of the field names in the form, it gives the #Name error. Please help, .....going bald!! keithchiv, Aug 26, 2010 #1 OBP Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 8, 2005 Messages: 19,066 keithchiv, welcome to the Forum. The #Name error usually occurs because you have used a name for a ms access #name field that is not in the Form's Record Source & Field List or is not one of the unbound text fields added later. So you need to carefully check the spellings of the field names and also check that they match those in the Field List. OBP, Aug 27, 2010 #2 keithchiv Thread Starter Joined: Aug 26, 2010 Messages: 2 Yes. Thanks for that which I knew and had already done. I think perhaps Access didn't identify the fields I used. I had used "cut and paste" in this calculation which had worked perfectly elsewhere in this and other forms. But for some reason, it did not on this calculated field. When I typed in the exact same formula using the "Expression builder" it worked fine. Only 2 weeks of intermittent trying to get that result!! Problem now solved. keithchiv, Aug 29, 2010 #3 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
