I have a user who has the most up to date version of Project Pro 2010 who cannot open projects from Project Server 2010. Below is there screenshot showing their Project Pro version: We have the oldest version of Project Pro in Project Server set to 14.0.6134.5000 Below is a screenshot of the Error ID they are receiving with a completely new version I have never seen before: I have been researching for days trying to figure out where the 14.0.4751.1000 version number is coming from. We have all our users on the same versions that are displayed in the first screenshot. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Thanks, Brent Monday, January 20, 2014 3:47 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Hi, In server setting (additional server settings in operational policies), a minimal version of the client (MS Project Pro) should have been defined. Meaning that client under this minimal version cannot connect to Project Server and will receive this message on Project Pro tentative to connect to Project Server. Either try to remove this minimal version number, or upgrade the user's client. Hope this helps. Project Professional Versions and Consistency BY: Collin Quiring The February Cumulative Update was recently released for Project Professional 2010. As with most updates, this brings a few questions to http://stephkdonahue.com/following-job-failed-complete/ mind. How do I know which version, or build, of Project Professional 2010 is on my computer? How do I know which version, or build, is the latest one available? From the ms project Project Server perspective, how do I restrict the Project Professional version my users are using to access the server? Why does that matter? When Project Professional and Project Server are released to the world and it begins to get a large installation base and is in everyday use all sorts of scenarios and usage variations are implemented by the people using the tools. In so doing, ms project error some unintended consequences occur, some bugs are found and some “business realities” or “business logic issues” are discovered that aren’t part of the current version of Project. As other integrated tools, like SharePoint, are modified in some way then Project also needs to be modified. Therefore, updates are released for the software. As software updates are released, these issues are resolved. And, so it is important that all the users have the most recent version of Project Professional installed on their computers. While most organizations have a process to update software, it isn’t always easy to know if everybody accessing your server has the most recent version. Even if you don’t use Project Server, it is still important for everybody to be using the same version of Project. What if a user has two copies or Project Professional – one on a desktop computer that is definitely part of the routine update process and a company issued notebook that they don’t always get updated? And, again, why does this matter? Why do I care if they all have the same version of Project Professional? Let’s have a made-up example where there is a bug in Projec
on July 2, 2014July 2, 2014 by Stephanie Donahue ***Update*** Before trying the below steps, make sure Hotfix 2837680 has been installed *** The issue may be related to having a local custom field that is defined to include a lookup table, and yet the table is missing. When you save to the Project Server, the save operation fails. A quick workaround is to remove the local custom fields. When editing an existing template from Project Server 2010, and attempting to publish back into Project Server 2013 post-migration, you may get the following error. The following job failed to complete. Job Type: Save Error ID: 9000(0x2328) Error The project could not be saved to the server. Please retry saving the project. If the problem persists, save the project as a MPP file and contact your system administrator. This indicates the project file may be corrupted or contains things that cannot be published to the new environment. To resolve, the file will need to be saved in .xml format and then imported back into a .mpp file. This entry was posted in Migration, Project Server 2013, Troubleshooting. Bookmark the permalink.
