takes a few minutes. Join Now I have a probelem with users applications hanging for aroun 5- 10 mins. In the event log I find Event ID 17052 Source MSSQLSERVER. error: 17883, severity: 1, state: 0. The Scheduler 0 appears to be hung. SPID 0, UMS Context 0xBDD0C8 This event is followed by another with the exact same message except that it is now Scheduler 1 This event is occurring exactly when the program hangs and the hanging program is dependent on SQLServer. I have been unable to figure out what the issue is, other than it appears to have something to do with SQLserver health. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/810885 We are a CPA firm and being in tax season we can't bear even a 10 min slowdown. Looks like you can probably ignore it if it isn't causing problems. 0 Cayenne OP Suzanne2324 Apr 6, 2010 at 5:21 UTC The Application is Prosystemfx Tax by CCH. The application doesn't actually "fail". The user reports that it "sits and churns" for about 5-10 mins. and then works fine. I actually just found out that it doesn't use SQL it uses Foxboro. However the "hang" is happening at the same time as this event. And this is at least the 2nd time I can confirm the correlation. The program on the server using SQL is CPAPractice Manager also from CCH. As for the SQL server the only thing that I have been able to find is in Add/Remove programs the following is listed. SQL Server Desktop Engine v 800.761 Can you educate me as to where to find the version of the SQL server? Thanks 0 Pure Capsaicin OP Helpful Post Scott Alan Miller Apr 6, 2010 at 5:33 UTC Niagara Technology Group (NTG) is an IT service

Anyone still getting 17883 on SP4?" bakerjon Posting Yak Master USA 145 Posts Posted-12/15/2005: 09:49:34 There are still some of these in SP4. Look at your MSSQL\LOG directory. You will likely see a .DMP or a .MDMP file. This is a mini-dump or full dump of the memory stack. You will want to send this off to Microsoft Support. In my experience, they will tell you that your query is the issue, and suggest that you tune your query, but after spending a lot of time on the phone, they agreed that it was a bug in the product. The scheduler, while it is co-operative, it should relinquish resources eventually, which it didn't do here.HTHJon-Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass.http://www.sqljunkies.com/weblog/outerjoin paulrandal Yak with Vast SQL Skills USA 899 Posts Posted-12/15/2005: 19:47:58 Do you know the name/email of the person that argued with you? 17883s are nearly always scheduling/yielding bugs in SQL Server, regardless of what you're doing.ThanksPaul RandalLead Program Manager, Microsoft SQL Server Storage Engine(Legalese: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.) gcarlier Starting Member 1 Posts Posted-01/11/2006: 04:47:47 Hi Paul,We are also running MSSQL 2000 with sp4 and getting the 17883s with the scheduler errors.
