In Project Explorer, after selecting a stream, there is long delay to acquire the stream's contents. The following message appears: This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem. Note: This error has been reported to happen in ClearCase Explorer and Project Explorer when trying to Update View, Check Out , Get Stream Contents, Rebase and Deliver. Subsequent retries of the ClearCase operations resolves the error automatically. A "Database timed out -- aborting transaction" usually is followed on the logs by the actual root cause (like, for instance, db_VISTA database error -926 - problem in shared memory lock manager) In the OP's case, it was (from this technote), a corrupt transaction file. Unmount the VOB Kill any lingering VOB processes on the server using the albd_list utility. Note: Review technote 1148639 for more details on albd_list and its usage. Should some ClearCase processes still exist that are accessing the transaction file
