find "Error 0" commonly occurs when there is a previous installation of MySQL on a Windows machine, or even hidden file remnants of an earlier MySQL installation. It is easy to conclude that a previous installation of MySQL has been completely expunged from your system, but one has to maniacally hunt down and extirpate all old configuration and data files before the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard will install a new error 0 mysql MySQL database and start the Windows MySQL service. We recommend that you try the these steps if you see this error. One user found that the following worked. We suggest trying this first. 1. Cancel the configuration step. (If you haven't already). 2. Go back to the configuration wizard on the program list (newly installed.) Follow the "reconfigure" option. 3. Uncheck the "modify security settings" box and reconfigure without changing the password. Make sure the password is blank. 4. When you click "finish" on the final screen, the service fails to start. Click "cancel" and restart the configuration wizard. Reconfigure in the same way as before, but check the "modify" security settings" box and leave the "current password" field blank and fill in and confirm a new password. This time the service starts, security settings are applied, and MySQL works… hopefully. In house, we found the following was successful. 1. Cancel the configuration step. (If you haven't already.) 2. Start up the configuration wizard. Delete the previous instance. This will close the configuration wizard. 3. Start up the configuration wizard again. Create a new instance. Usually this step will work and you are done. For Windows XP, 1. Run the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard which is installed in the MySQL

Error: 0 This occurs when the Configuration Wizard tries to install the service and finds an existing service with the same name. One solution to this problem is to choose a service name other than mysql when using the configuration wizard. This enables the new service to be installed correctly, but leaves the outdated service in place. Although this is harmless, it is best to remove old services that are no longer in use. To permanently remove the old mysql service, execute the following command as a user with adm
5.1. Despite endlessly googling them internets and browsing through the MySQL documentation, the solution was nowhere to be found. Fortunately for you, I found the ultimate fix to this problem in 8 easy steps! Huzzah! This fix is aimed https://schalbroeck.wordpress.com/2009/04/22/mysql-installation-could-not-start-the-service-mysql/ at Windows Vista users, although it should be pretty much the same for XP/2000. PROBLEM: https://ushastry.blogspot.com/2009/07/cannot-create-windows-service-for.html The error "could not start the service mysql" pops up the moment you try to re-install MySQL server. The reason why you're getting this error is because there are still traces of the previous installation left on your computer, that are not removed during uninstall. SOLUTION: STEP 1 - If you still have MySQL installed, go to the MySQL Server Instance mysql error Config Wizard and choose remove instance. After that, go to Programs and features in the control panel, and uninstall MySQL server. STEP 2 - Now find the MySQL directory in your installation directory (e.g. c:\program files) and delete it. STEP 3 - Bring up a command prompt (press windowskey + r and type cmd.exe (enter)) and insert the following command: "sc delete mysql" without the brackets. After executing it should say that the service has mysql error 0 been removed from the system. STEP 4 - Press windowskey + r and enter "%appdata%" without the brackets. Now find the MySQL folder and delete it. STEP 5 - Press windowskey + r again, enter "%programdata% and delete the other MySQL folder. STEP 6 - Open regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services, here you'll find a MySQL registry key (see screenshot), delete it. Do a search for all MySQL entries (press F3) and kill them. MySQL key in regedit (click to enlarge) STEP 7 - Now for the last step, you should search your system for any leftover MySQL directories, or "my.ini" files, and delete them. STEP 8 - Now reinstall MySQL server, I recommend installing it in a different directory than the previous installation. That's it! Your new MySQL installation should be up and running now! I was like *uff*. Ran services.msc and saw that MySQL process actually works. Re-run mysql instance config wizard and in the end it ticked "start service" succesfully🙂 pos
Windows People often checks MySQL's download section and when they notice that there is new version of MySQL released they just can't wait for a second & starts downloading it so that they can install it on their windows box for testing purpose. Ok fine, download is completed its time to install it. Couple of successful "NEXT" and In the last step they encounter a error message such as "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" We are so intelligent ppl that we don't want to take any help from our colleague.. And what we do is we just delete the directory in which new installation has been done & starts the installation wizard one-more time in the hope that this time we gonna install it. Again the result is same "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" So why are we getting error that too at the last step? one common thought is "there must be something wrong or some sort of bug in the new release" How to resolve this error? The primary reason for this error is that you haven't properly uninstalled the previously installed MySQL server & in the installation wizard last step was to create the service with the name "MySQL" and which has the same name as that of the existing service (default is "MySQL"). Solution for this error is to first stop the service if it is running and then remove the service. C:\>NET STOP MYSQL The MySQL service is stopping. The MySQL service was stopped successfully. Once the service is stopped, it can be removed with the SC utility: C:\>SC DELETE MYSQL [SC] DeleteService SUCCESS With the previous service stopped and removed, you can now run the MySQL Configuration Wizard again to configure and start the new MySQL service. Did you stop the service before deleting? also I think you need to have administrative rights in order to add/delete services. July 21, 2009 at 9:28 AM Anonymous said...
