I'm using a simple test table like: mysql> create table person (person_id char(3), dob date); It must be something I have missed rather than lack of space mysql database putty database-table share|improve this question edited Dec 7 '13 at 19:18 Anil Natha 2,34451835 asked Dec 7 '13 at 18:48 Morphey 3515 1 stackoverflow.com/questions/7415710/… –Mihai Dec 7 '13 at 19:16 I found the suggested post upon initial search, but my question is how is this possible and if it is full how can I clear it? –Morphey Dec 7 '13 at 19:27 Sorry for the multiple post, I noticed that other errors all have tmp in the directory but I noticed mine does not or am I missing something? –Morphey Dec 7 '13 at 19:34 write query in sqlfiddle if you have doubt about query and check it. –Sadikhasan Dec 7 '13 at 19:46 Turns out that my lecturer messed up and I had no space. I'm baffled as to why this isn't working... I am 'root'. I have full perms and all that stuff. I use these DBs every day. Yesterday, http://lists.mysql.com/mysql/210093 I deleted a table that had FKs because I wanted to http://lists.mysql.com/mysql/210099 change a column name, but couldn't because of the restraint *sigh*. After that I couldn't re-create the table again. So breaking it down to basic level... mysql> use mydbB; mysql> CREATE TABLE foo ( id int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, name varchar(255) mysql error NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY id (id) ); ERROR 3 (HY000): Error writing file './mydbB/foo.frm' (Errcode: 5) mysql> use mydbA; mysql> CREATE TABLE foo ( id int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, name varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY id (id) ); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.04 sec) root@daevid111:/var/lib/mysql# ll total 28748 drwxrwxrwx 2 mysql no space left mysql 8192 Nov 16 22:46 mydbA drwxrwxrwx 2 mysql mysql 4096 Nov 16 22:50 mydbB -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 5242880 Nov 16 22:46 ib_logfile0 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 5242880 Nov 13 22:07 ib_logfile1 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 18874368 Nov 16 22:46 ibdata1 drwx------ 2 mysql mysql 4096 Nov 13 22:07 mysql drwx------ 2 mysql mysql 4096 Nov 13 22:06 test All drives have gigabytes free.
