I'm using it on some of my little application sucessfully. Currently I'm facing this problem: after a very short time (maybe around 60 secs) after connection is made, this https://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/147188-solved-mysql-via-odbc-mysql-server-has-gone-away-error/ error occured: "MySQL server has gone away". I want it to connect when the application run at the first time and only disconnect when the user quit. Is there anyway to initiated somekind of auto-reconnect or extend the timeout period to the maximum? I dont see these parameter can be passed through the UDF ODBC version is 3.5.1 running on Windows XP SP2 Thanks in advance Edited January 4, 2013 by michaelslamet
 FireFox 252 It slips through our fingers, like a fist full of sand. I was getting the same error and it was being caused by my server running out of memory. I added a 1GB swap file and that fixed it. –Pikamander2 Sep 19 at 23:52 1 @Pikamander2 thanks for the hint! –ihsan Sep 26 at 9:10 add a comment| 13 Answers 13 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted It may be easier to check if the connection and re-establish it if needed. See PHP:mysqli_ping for info on that. share|improve this answer edited May 14 '15 at 14:46 cgaldiolo 525610 answered Oct 29 '11 at 23:15 Niet the Dark Absol 209k37240372 Good point, if you have a process that is intermittent then its better to release your connection so you don't used up all the connections. Rebuilding the connection is generally cheap. +1 –Yzmir Ramirez Nov 3 '11 at 0:48 add a comment| up vote 179 down vote I've encountered this a number of times and
