#name Access Text Box
form/report Author(s) Dev Ashish (Q) Why do I get a #NAME error for ms access #name in form a calculated control on a form or a report? (A) You are probably using the same name for a calculated text box as one of the terms ms access #name in report in the expression. In the following example, Access produces a #NAME error if you enter the expression in a control named City, State, or ZIP: =[City] & "", "" & [State] & "" "" & [ZIP] This creates a circular reference that may be resolved by changing the name of the control that contains this expression to something (anything) other than City, State, or ZIP. © 1998-2010, Dev Ashish & Arvin Meyer, All rights reserved. Error in MS Access Started by sunny441 , Jun 24 2010 07:48 PM Please log in to reply #1 sunny441 Posted 24 June 2010 - 07:48 PM sunny441 Member Member 258 posts Hello guys! Been a long time since I posted http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/280451-name-error-in-ms-access/ on here! I am working on a project using MS Access. As the topic says - I am having problems with retrieving data from a table and displaying. The one table has the component information like manufacture name, size and other things. The other table has some information pertaining to Temperature (mostly numbers here). On this 2nd table there are some fields that have no value and have been set to "---" by the previous db guy. All the fields are set to TEXT value. Now on the final front end - which displays information, the information from the first table shows up just fine. All the temperatures and info from the 2nd table show up as #NAME? Error. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I have the table sources set to the right values (like =[temp rear]). I also tried changing the field from TEXT to NUmber. But that did not help. The relationship is correct and the keys are correct. I am at my wits end! Please help!! What do you mean by that? obatusai, Nov 13, 2008 #3 OBP Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 8, 2005 Messages: 19,078 This error usually occurs when the Field Name in the Form's Field's Record Source Property does not match that of the Table or query providing the data. Have you checked the Form's "Field List"? If ms access #name you can post a zipped copy of the database in Access 2003 version by converting it, we can look at it for you. Or post screenshots of the Table in design mode and the Form with a Field with the problem in design mode. You can then open a blank Excel Worksheet and Paste the "Image" in to it. Now open the Form in design view and click on a Filed that has the #name problem, make sure the the Properties are showing and then use the Prontscreen to capture the image and paste that in the Excel Sheet as well. Use the "Go Advanced" and "Manage Attachments" Buttons to post the Excel sheet as an Attachmnent. OBP, Nov 14, 2008 #7 obatusai Thread Starter J
