an apparent reason, and of course users were complaining because of lost event id 5000 eventtype clr20r3 p1 sessions etc…; the following entry was added to the Application event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: .NET .net runtime 2.0 error clr20r3 Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event Category: None Event ID: 5000 Date: 9/28/2005 Time: 3:18:02 PM User: N/A Computer: IIS-SERVER Description: EventType clr20r3, P1 w3wp.exe, P2 6.0.3790.1830, P3 42435be1, P4 https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/4c6c7d2a-f62c-4369-8f63-4ae30c23a257/net-runtime-20-error-reporting-event-id-5000-systemoutofmemoryexception-p10-nil?forum=operationsmanagergeneral app_web_7437ep-9, P5 0.0.0.0, P6 433b1670, P7 9, P8 a, P9 system.exception, P10 NIL The first thing to do when we have a specific error message is to search the Knowledge Base for known issues/hotfixes etc…, and was quite easy to find the article Unhandled exceptions cause ASP.NET-based applications to unexpectedly quit in the .NET Framework 2.0 which I already used https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/carloc/2007/10/19/net-runtime-2-0-error-event-id5000/ more than once in the past to resolve similar issues; I usually suggest the customer to first apply the solution described in "Method 2": Method 2Change the unhandled exception policy back to the default behavior that occurs in the .NET Framework 1.1 and in the .NET Framework 1.0. Note We do not recommend that you change the default behavior. If you ignore exceptions, the application may leak resources and abandon locks. To enable this default behavior, add the following code to the Aspnet.config file that is located in the following folder: %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

Average Rating 3 5556 views 08/09/2012 Supporting Windows Troubleshooting Microsoft .NET Framework Hello, I work for an Emergency 911 association, and our 911 workstations currently use Windows XP Pro SP3. They have http://www.itninja.com/question/net-runtime-error-in-windows-xp-pro-sp3-event-id-5000 no internet access for security reason, and the Standard Users are locked down with only http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21292791 the ability to launch the 911 software which then launches a mapping program. I know this sounds complicated but bare with me.... The mapping system recently started shooting a .NET 2.0 error when the 911 software attempted to launch it while logged in as a Standard User, however when logged in as a local or Domain Admin, it runs fine without .net runtime any errors. Here is the exact error we are receiving: EventType clr20r3, P1 geobase.exe, P2 7.0.7.12, P3 4b6728da, P4 geobase, P5 7.0.7.12, P6 4b6728da, P7 5b, P8 e9, P9 system.invalidoperationexception, P10 NIL. This is the Event Type Information:EventType clr20r3, P1 geobase.exe, P2 7.0.7.12, P3 4b6728da, P4 geobase, P5 7.0.7.12, P6 4b6728da, P7 5b, P8 e9, P9 system.invalidoperationexception, P10 NIL. Is there anyone who could help me troubleshoot this is? I have IT involved with the .net runtime 2.0 IT department that makes the geobase.exe software and the IT department that makes the 911 software, and of course I am IT as well. Ultimately I have realized I need a Microsoft person, because I think it may just be a .NET patch that is needed, but that's just a guess... If you login as a new user and get a new profile does it do this? (If it works the install could have updated default but not existing. Could be bad existing profiles or they cannot make a needed change due to lack of rights) If you make an existinguser atemp admin, let them login once, take away admin rights, then have them logindoes it do it? (something needs to update each users profile and you will need to trace that down) Answered 08/09/2012 by: SMal.tmcc Please log in to comment SMal.tmcc 4 years ago What updates have been applied between when it worked and the error started occuring. .NET dotnet Framework ibm.wmq.mqexception exception unhandled runtime error event id 5000 clr20r3 Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) You receive a ".NET Runtime 2.0 Error" while running your .NET WebSphere MQ (WMQ) Client application. Symptom You may also find an Event 5000 from source ".NET Runtime 2.0 Error" with event type 'clr20r3' in the Windows Application Event Log. Cause This is caused by an unhandled exception in your application code. The .NET Framework 2.0+ does not permit unhandled exceptions and if one is thrown, the framework will stop the worker process (w3wp.exe). The actual unhandled exception may or may not be an MQ exception (ibm.wmq.mqexception). Resolving the problem Modify your application source code to handle (catch) all exceptions. You might also be able to enable your application to write the exception stack trace to the Windows Application Event Log. For information on doing this and, as an alternative, how to change the unhandled exception policy back to how it was for .NET Framework 1.1 see: .
