I'm trying to find out if there is anything I can do to keep one of my favorite lenses. I popped my Nikon 50mm 1.8 onto my D7000 and I get "F--" flashing on the https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/31419040 screen instead of the aperture. Several forum posts and other sources recommended cleaning the contacts on the lens so I did that, but to no avail. The aperture ring is set to 22 and locked, as it always is. Also, and this is the real kicker for me, it works like a charm on my old D70. Any ideas? I love this lens, as most do, and really don't want to have to ditch it. 02-25-2011,08:20 AM #2 Skipper View http://forums.popphoto.com/showthread.php?624204-F-error-when-using-Nikon-50mm-1-8-on-D7000-please-help! Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Jul 2004 Posts 4,442 Hmmm..... before your kicker I would say send to Nikon. I had similar problem with a Canon lens -- everyone said clean the contacts but that did not work. Canon fixed it find by replacing something. But given that it works fine on other camera there must be nothing wrong with it right? So maybe there is something wrong with camera (D7000)? But I assume other lenses work with fine with it right? So is there some compatibility problem with the two? Tho that doesn't make sense. Why is aperture ring locked on f22? I see on B&H that is it capable of going to 22. Do you use on that f stop with D70? Have you tried using it with D7000 on a lower f stop? 02-25-2011,09:28 AM #3 Riepejer View Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Apr 2007 Location Schiller Park, Illinois Posts 2,549 This post piqued my curiosity because I have the same camera and same lens but had not tried the two together. In my case it works fine so you need to contact Nikon. Three times so far, http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1359430 I've turned it on and have been unable to take a photo. I look at the panel and it displays a flashing "F--". It happened once in October, then a week ago, and again just now. The manual says the error means either: No lens attached, or Non-CPU lens attached. The first time it went away after turning the camera on and nikon d90 off a few times. The second time it just eventually went away.Today I tried loosening and re"clicking" the lens, to no avail. I then detached and reattached the lens and it worked. I've looked at the connectors, and they look OK to my untrained eye. I'll contact Nikon, but any ideas/other things I should try? It seems that if the lens becomes loose even by a very very slight amount the camera has a winge. I just turn it off, tighten the lens by turning it then it's fine after I turn it back on. I'll give the alcohol some thought (I'm somewhat apprehensive to do it though; I'm paranoid enough about letting dust into the body, let alone risk dropping a cotton bud in there! :-) Wardy_1, do you have to detach the lens and reattach it? Or just disengage the lock, twist one way, and twist back to r
