I'm reasonably proficient at nikon d90 fee error 50mm using the camera.I'm basically a point and shoot user... keeping it in auto-mode most of the time. My biggest use is taking business photos to use for bidding and documentation in my construction

business.HERE IS MY NEED => Frequently I'll be on a job trying to take a photo and the camera will not take the photo. In looking at the data window, instead of findingthe F-stop # indicated, it is blinking "F - - -". (Seriously, this is NOT a joke posting! I figure it's flipping me the bird.)This occurs in all different lighting conditions. It happened today in the nikon d90 error codes afternoon with high overcast and plenty of ideal even light, (not blinding light). The camera lens switch is set to "A", the switch on the body near the lens mount is set to "AF", the mode dial is set to 'Auto", the battery has plenty of charge.Sometimes if I take the battery out and wait a few seconds before replacing it this will "fix" the problem; othertimes (like today) it will not. I have a 2nd battery. This occurs with the 2nd battery as well.I bought a guidebook about it the D80 and read it cover to cover. I have thoroughly gone thru this book on several additional ocassions and I cannot find any reference to this "F - - -" issue.Does anyone have any guidance for me on this "F - - -" issue? In reply to jagco • Mar 5, 2010 I'm thinking the F--- code is due to the seating of the lens on the camera. Did you try taking the lens off and back on...or maybe clean the contacts on body

I'm trying to find out if there is anything I can do to keep one of my favorite lenses. I popped my Nikon 50mm 1.8 onto my D7000 and I get "F--" flashing on the nikon d90 screen instead of the aperture. Several forum posts and other sources recommended cleaning the contacts on the lens so I did that, but to no avail. The aperture ring is set to 22 and locked, as it always is. Also, and this is the real kicker for me, it works like a charm on my old D70. Any ideas? I love this lens, as most do, and really don't want to have to ditch it. 02-25-2011,08:20 AM #2 Skipper View nikon d90 f Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Jul 2004 Posts 4,442 Hmmm..... before your kicker I would say send to Nikon. I had similar problem with a Canon lens -- everyone said clean the contacts but that did not work. Canon fixed it find by replacing something. But given that it works fine on other camera there must be nothing wrong with it right? So maybe there is something wrong with camera (D7000)? But I assume other lenses work with fine with it right? So is there some compatibility problem with the two? Tho that doesn't make sense. Why is aperture ring locked on f22? I see on B&H that is it capable of going to 22. Do you use on that f stop with D70? Have you tried using it with D7000 on a lower f stop? 02-25-2011,09:28 AM #3 Riepejer View Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Apr 2007 Location Schiller Park, Illinois Posts 2,549 This post piqued my curiosity because I have the same camera and same lens but had not tried the two together. In my case it works fine so you need to contact Nikon.
