Articles KB #: 20040 Last Updated: July 14, 2016 This issue applies to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Please note: Unidesk does not support Windows XP with native foreign language support. You can only virtual recovery disk for vista use foreign languages on Windows XP if you install English XP and then

add a language pack. You may see this when you attempt to create desktops or layers after importing a new non-US-English 0xc00000f OS layer. Specifically, this is what you get in Windows 7 when you have a missing NLS (Native Language Support) code-page file. You get a boot failure screen that says: Status: 0xc000000f Info: Windows https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/dcfca876-f694-4cfa-9a7b-283f22ad3438/nls-data-is-missing-or-corrupt-in-windows-server-2008?forum=winservergen failed to load because the NLS data is missing, or corrupt. This means that an NLS file (international code page) that Windows wants is not on the boot image, which means Unidesk didn't recognize it during our boot analysis. When you import an OS layer, Unidesk reads the list of drivers and services to determine what needs to be on the boot image and what can wait until layers http://www.unidesk.com/support/kb/boot-failure-0xc000000f-windows-failed-load-because-nls-data-missing-or-corrupt are available. Unfortunately, NLS files are not recognized. We automatically include only US and Western Europe code pages. However, there is a way to include a file on the boot disk that Unidesk does not automatically detect. You normally have to go to the Gold VM, you cannot do this with an existing OS Layer unless your boot failure was the result of an updated version of the OS layer (and in that case, you would delete the bad version and perform the following fix on a new version as you also perform whatever update broke Windows). If this was a new import that has never worked, just delete the OS layer, fix the gold, and re-import your OS layer. In the Gold VM, edit "C:\Program Files\Unidesk\Uniservice\bootfile.txt". This is a list of all files required by this VM to boot in Unidesk. Add the files you need, save the file, shut down the VM, and import a new OS layer. Then deploy a new desktop using this layer and see if it can support the language you want. Unidesk does not in general know all the files that are necessary for a particular language. We have successfully imported only a handful of regionalized Windows

My problem being that when i attempt to boot the vista home premium sp1 system I'm working on i get the following error...status 0xc000000f "windows failed to load because the nls data is missing or corrupt" Now I've been down all of the standard repair routes and no joy, although i have heard i can possibly take another vista install nls files and copy them to a usb drive for use in the nls data problem machine. This seems to be above my skill set so any assistants you can offer would be warmly accepted. Tenuchi_Drake, Apr 1, 2010 #3 baklogic MajorGeek Errors when atarting can sometimes be a disc dying- could be worth running 'smart' check, if available in the bios, otherwise hook hard drive up to another pc as a slave, and use one of the free downloads to check it. As you say you are a little concerned when doing anything, I would think smokinggun could advise on that, if he feels it an option, too. baklogic, Apr 1, 2010 #4 Tenuchi_Drake Private E-2 I had considered this, but unfortunately i dont have another laptop i can connect the drive as a slave. Is there anyway i could possibly connect and reapai through a network? Tenuchi_Drake, Apr 1, 2010 #5 baklogic MajorGeek If someone has a usb harddrive caddy you can borrow, you could read it from a pc, or a laptop. There are several other little gadgets, (beeing such a moro
