using AUTOCAD IN WINDOWS ( chinese settings, to compound the issue, hahaha!! ) He got the following error: Will try and er, translate the error message into chinese for the other person. Meanwhile, Is there a way someone can help me to convert my file from http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2010-2011-2012/missing-nls-file/td-p/3108108 Rhino Mac to Autocad Windows file?? I can email the file to you I also perceive this might be a good thing to flag in AutoCad forums so I'll head over there. Thank you for your kind assistance!! Helvetosaur 2014-07-08 12:54:24 UTC #2 This https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/conversion-error-nls-files-opening-dwg-file-in-windows-from-mac-rhino-file/9829 sounds like a problem of fonts. First, Mac fonts are not the same as Windows fonts, and maybe it's looking for characters that are not in the Chinese font set... You might just let ACAD try to convert them into something it understands and see if anything got lost.... --Mitch tanclare 2014-07-08 15:14:07 UTC #3 Hie Mitch, thanks for your reply! That's what I told him to try. The thing is, I didn't use any fonts in there! So I found it rather odd. Perhaps just a default response triggered due to the change in operating system. Will update with a solution if one is found! I open some file from other computer...I cannot open the drawing file and in order to open the file, I need to ask my officemate to "save as" the file. How can I solve this http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-46542.html problem?:) ReMark5th Apr 2010, 11:35 amSometimes the AutoDesk website is a complete waste of time. Could not find anything of use at AutoDesk but I did manage to run across this... http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/the-nls-files-required-to-convert-the-text-entities-tip7164 rochel12805th Apr 2010, 12:56 pmSir, I did not solve the problem..please help... ReMark5th Apr 2010, 01:02 pmWhat have you tried so far? Did you even look at the above link? ReMark5th Apr 2010, 01:21 pmWhat version of Windows are you running? The nls error nls files should be located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. Example of a one such file: c_1252.nls. The drawing files you are having the problem with come from where? Another company located in a different country? rochel12805th Apr 2010, 02:02 pmim using windows vista... I tried to scan my pc, but my pc doesnt have any problem. This all started when my pc reformatted and re-install the Autocad,(but i still use windows vista same as before) nls error autocad since then if the file comes from other pc I cannot open the file, and I have to "save as" the file using other computer.. after the "save as" I can open the file to my pc.. hope you can help me solve this problem. ReMark5th Apr 2010, 02:29 pmDid you check for the presence of nls files on your hard drive? MikeScott5th Apr 2010, 02:31 pmDid you try going to your control panel and double-clicking the regional settings, like the error message tells you to do? Your scan isn't likey to detect a CAD virus by the way. Remark's file "c_1252.nls" seems to be the once you need.. since it's directly noted in the error message. It'd be interesting to try and open the file in another installation of AutoCAD (maybe install a triel verison of CAD on another system?) and see if it works there or not. Don't send the file out to anyone here though.. if it IS infected, it'd be better to infect a trial version of CAD rather than a full install. ReMark5th Apr 2010, 02:35 pmYou never answered my question about the source of the drawing file. Where did it originate? rochel12806th Apr 2010, 09:23 amSir, The drawing was originated here in my place, (same country)..It doesnt come from other source, just within our
