start {4.7} fuel gage shows empty - but full. Truck won't start {4.7} fuel gage shows empty - but full. 10 Report Follow Asked by moron Sep 04, 2010 at 08:11 AM about the 2000 Dodge Dakota Club Cab Question type: Maintenance & Repair My odometer readingchanges https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t30923_ds486069 to - No bu5 & the check engine lite & low fuel lites come on. Any idea what the No bu5 code means ? I'm getting ready to drop the tank & change out the sensor/ pump unit. 10 Answers 10,375 Report Dan answered 6 years ago its your crank sensor, its burned out and causing a 5 volt reference down at the pcm, and since your pcm and your BUS communication center interact with each other this is the reason nothing is working because with the crank sensor no bus shot the engine isnt able to find top dead center and bottom dead center therefore its just inhibiting the engine from starting. i hope this helps 2 out of 2 people think this is helpful. Mark helpful 10 Report moron answered 6 years ago Thanks for responding Dan. I've replaced the crank sensor - the obd reading confirmed that - unfortunately it still has the no bus reading & won't start. Any other suggestions? We're thinking possibly the pcm ? Where is the bus comm center located . Thanks dodge dakota no Mark helpful 10,375 Report Dan answered 6 years ago well before you replace the PCM try resetting it, simply remove you negative wire on the battery put the key in the ignition and hold it in the start position for like 15-20 seconds turn the key all the way off and reconnect every thing, if that doesnt fix the problem then replace the PCM unfourtunately haviing never done the job on a dakota i dont know where the PCM is located 3 out of 3 people think this is helpful. Mark helpful 10,375 Report Dan answered 6 years ago i also do not know the location of the bus center on the vehicle either Mark helpful 10 Report moron answered 6 years ago Ended up being the PCM - it wasn't sending the 5 volts to the crankshaft sensor unit. Found one at the junkyard for $80 & back on the road. FYI- both PCM & Bus center are on the passenger wheel well. Dan - Thanks for Your help 1 out of 1 people think this is helpful.
