Gauges are inoperative. No BUS message displayed on odometer. System: Body/Chassis Electrical, Emissions/PCM/Fuel, Engine Electrical Codes: N/A Problem 1 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Turn the key off for 10 seconds. Turn the key on and measure the voltage on the 5v power supply circuit. If the voltage is now 5v, replace the CKP sensor. Problem 2 of

One problem, that I noticed last night, is the No Bus odometer error (check engine light on, airbag light on, fuel, speedometer, and oil gauges fail). I know this is a common problem, and I have read many of the other threads addressing this issue. What I am wondering is if jeep wrangler no someone could give me a few more specifics. When I knock on the dash, the instruments work again so, from what I have read, it sounds like the cluster has a loose connection or something. I really don't know much about this, so could anyone give me very specific instructions on how to find/recognize the wires to check and how to verify it has a tight connection? I would really appreciate it. Thanks 01-08-2011, 03:35 PM #2 jeep1462 Newb Join Date: Jan 2011 Posts: 5 Nevermind. For mine, I just removed the cluster (the panel that shows the fuel gauge and speedometer) and used some dielectric grease on it from autozone. It works just fine now. A service manual would help, but let me know if you need help on how to remove the cluster.

Today it came on out of the blue as I took the Pat out of my yard, and the engine stopped,so did the wipers. I tried to start but it was completely dead. All light on dash were on as normal when ignition was on,but it wouldn't turn, like the battery was dead.(battery is ok by the way.Wipers still didn't work, neither did the compass on the dash.temperature was on. Disconnected the negative to reset computer, just for under a minute, and then the message was off and it started instantly. No issues since, had a few startups since then (about 6-7),and everything seems normal. What the hell was that?
