This is my second time posting here. Previous threads have been closed, but not because any solution was found. It's possible there may be more than one cause for the same or similar error. I've had this problem now for the last 6 months at least. Every single time I use Chrome.. it's the same thing. My system freezes and http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/chrome/cMZ5Dabj36k I have to wait for the dialog to pop up with Chrome.exe and please insert a disk in blah blah blah.. When the dialog pops up right away I can just click try again and it goes away, but other times the dialog doesn't pop up for a minute or longer. Incredibly frustrating. It makes me want to chuck my computer out the window, even though it's an awesome computer. I really need help with this and I wish someone with some serious https://forums.techguy.org/threads/chrome-exe-no-disk-error.1034740/ technical knowledge would read this and help me. Thank you. shanemiller1, Jan 5, 2012 #1 Sponsor Phantom010 Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 9, 2009 Messages: 34,572 Tried the following? But I just found a solution. I normally would never edit the registry but I have been so fed up I decided to try it. In registry, navigate as follows: +HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE +SYSTEM +CURRENT_CONTROL +CONTROL WINDOWS : ErrorMode: (change value from 0 to 2) Save and close, then reboot. I did this about an hour ago and haven't had a single chrome.exe error and usually I would get one every few minutes. Sooooo happy about this! Good luck! shanemiller1, Jan 5, 2012 #3 Phantom010 Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 9, 2009 Messages: 34,572 I do know about that fix but it's only a workaround and a last resort. You've simply disabled the error message. Phantom010, Jan 5, 2012 #4 shanemiller1 Thread Starter Joined: Jul 12, 2011 Messages: 4 Ahhh... I see.. well, the thing is all the info I found about the problem says that the problem isn't really much of a problem except that the error message is annoying. So if I leave the error message disabled will the fact that the real problem is just hidden and continuing cause anything else
