What is amixer looking for that it does not find? Do I need to make a file, or give access to a directory? Please help. BTW - I installed all sound components for RH9, but it did not have the ALSA sound driver installed nor did it have the ALSA sound utilities. What does RH use for sound, and who knows how to use sound in RH9? Why does sound configuration and use seem so complicated in Linux? kite10linux View Public Profile View LQ Blog View Review Entries View HCL Entries Find More Posts by kite10linux 07-22-2005, 12:29 PM #2 darkleaf Senior Member Registe

Hi forum, I recently installed Xubuntu 11.10 yesterday and it's all been working great. Except for one problem: When I press the mute key on my keyboard, the volume mutes, however when pressed again, the panel shows the sound unmuting but the sound isn't actually unmuted. I used to get around this problem by typing: "amixer set Master unmute" into the terminal. And it used to work, unmute my sproblemsound. Now, however, the terminal is giving me this text after I have entered the above command: ALSA lib conf.c:1205:(parse_def) lc does ALSA lib conf.c:1205:(parse_def) lc does not exists ALSA lib conf.c:1685:(snd_config_load1) _toplevel_:3:18:No such file or directory ALSA lib conf.c:3467:(snd_config_hook_load) /etc/asound.conf may be old or corrupted: consider to remove or fix it ALSA lib conf.c:3326:(snd_config_hooks_call) function snd_config_hook_load returned error: No such file or directory ALSA lib conf.c:3713:(snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory not exists ALSA lib conf.c:1685:(snd_config_load1) _toplevel_:3:18:No such file or directory ALSA lib conf.c:3467:(snd_config_hook_load) /eproblemstc/asound.conf may be old or corrupted: consider to remove or fix it ALSA lib conf.c:3326:(snd_config_hooks_call) function snd_config_hook_load returned error: No such file or directory ALSA lib conf.c:3713:(snd_conf

Hello, Ive just started using crunchbang and im really happy with how the system functions and i can pretty much see myself using it for some time. However i have encountered a problem, I dont have any audio. Pulse-audio doesn't seem to be working, which is the default sound software if im not mistaken. I dont have a volume control icon on the dock and under open box menu>multimedia, the application "volume control" doesnt do anything.Ive tried reinstalling pavcontrol but still no luck, Im fairly new to troubleshooting on this level so im not really sure what i should add to this post to make it easier for anyone to help me, if there is anything i should add, please let me know ill add it as soon as i possibly can. Many thanksJEDIT:After some more snooping, i belive the actual problem lies with alsamixer. On boot, when the system tests the different elements that are installed, alsamixer gives a long string of errors.Such as this when i enter it into consiole:sudo Amixer ALSA lib conf.c:3314:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so ALSA lib control.c:951:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory Last edited by jtz (2013-03-22 08:15:35) Offline Help fund CrunchBang, donate to the project! #2 2013-03-21 13:43:15 dura Bloated Gimp From: interzone Registered: 2012-09-15 Posts: 2,108 Re: Pulse-audio / Alsamixer not working? alsamixerIf on the first bar there is 'MM' at base then volume is muted.
