(Not as dumb as you're thinking) I'm trying to backup a 16.8GB change 7zip temp folder folder over a network. The drive I am backing up to has 219GB of free space, but when I start the backup it says this: System Error: There is not enough space on the disk The settings are: Backup Type: update Backup Format: 7 Zip Compression Ratio: normal Any ideas on this? Oh sweet, found the problem. 7Zip is creating a temp file in the Toucan folder, which is on the system drive of my backup machine. The temp file (which is a copy of the archive it's updating) fills

The thing is that whenever I try to extract something large http://portableapps.com/node/13819 to D with 7-Zip, I'm getting "There is not enough space on the disk." errors. I figured out that 7-Zip is first copying the files to a temp directory on C, and when C runs out of space I get this error, but I don't know how to get around this. I can't find an option that will let me select where 7-Zip http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6718896 stores its temp files, or an option that will let me extract without this intermediate step. Is there a solution for this? It is specified by %TEMP% or %TMP% (I do not know which has more priority for 7-Zip) and by default points to %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp. Set it to something like D:\Temp and your problem will vanish. This solution will direct all programs to another temp dir under your account. There is no simple way to change %TEMP% for 7-Zip only, at least for the context menu. First off, I hope I'm not committing a sin, seeing as how this might be better discussed in the OS forum. I'll take a chance, though. Okay. FIrst off, I'll list my partitions and the space each of them have. C:\ - 17mb free D:\ - 200gigs free Here's the dilemma. I have a flash drive that has a 1gb file stored on it. I want to take that file and transfer it to D:\ (200 gigs free). Half way through the extraction process, Winrar gives me an error saying that there is not enough disk space to complete the operation. I'm dumbfounded at this point, because even though I'm transferring to a drive with ample free space, I get this is dumb error. The only partition on my hard drive that doesn't have enough space is C. This leads me to believe that for some reason the file is temporarily stored in the C drive. Am I an idiot, or is windows just overly complicated sometimes? Atm, there is no way for me to delete anything of a big enough size from C. I am using XP 32bit while there's a fully loaded Vista folder on C as well. For some reason, even though I'm not using it, Windows won't let me del
