I have HP Pavilion 133 Mhz with 384mb RAM installed, Windows ME.On the microsoft support website, it states: "SYMPTOMSWhen you try to start Windows or a program in Windows, you may receive an error message indicating that there is not enough memory to do so. Quit one https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/409521-explorer-exe-there-is-not-enough-free-memory-to-run-this-program or more programs, and then try again" This problem may even get worse, if even use Business Contact Manager for Outlook (BCM). CAUSE This problem triggers, when there is insufficient Outlook memory to display the folder. There could be one or multiple reasons for the cause of this issue. Due to this error, the user is unable not enough to archive mailbox items, add a large file or even add new contact to the contact list. This error message is generally displayed when Outlook mailbox has reached its maximum size limit. Another reason, which can trigger this problem, is the customization setting that you have made to view folder (for example you may have applied any filter). When using BCM for Outlook, the add-in activates every folder in the store profile, not enough free which eventually consumes memory. Such shared memory can create large accumulation of folders and items and hence deplete the memory. RESOLUTION To fix this insufficient memory error, follow the below provided manual method that explains how to modify the registry. Although serious issues may appear to the user, if the registry is modified incorrectly. For this, make sure the steps are followed precisely. For additional purpose of safety, you may take the backup of the registry (based upon your Windows OS) prior to performing the modifications. So that if any problems appears, then you can successfully restore it. MANUAL WORKAROUND 1. Close Outlook application. 2. Go to Start button, then click Run and write regedit. Hit enter. 3. Search and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem 4. Go to Edit menu, and then point to New. Now select DWORD Value. 5. Type SharedMemMaxSize, and again hit Enter. 6. Perform right-click operation on SharedMemMaxSize, and then select Modify. 7. Type 300000 in the Value data box. Select the default Base of Hexadecimal. 8. Select OK. 9. Find and then select the below given registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Applications\Outlook Note in case, Outlook subkeys do not exist, then you may have to create the Applications. 10. Go to the Edit menu, now move to New, and then select DWORD Value. 11. Type SharedMemMaxSize, and again hit Enter. 12. Type 300000 in the Value
your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hi All, Having a re-occuring issue in my environment. Users are getting this error: Explorer.exe there is not enough free memory to run this program. This occurs on login, so the user will double-click My Computer or try and open a network drive. All the PC's are the same, image/software wise. I've tried changing the Windows Explorer.exe memory to 20MB but this hasn't worked. Any ideas? It may be that something is still processing in the background and consuming memory. What happens if they weight a few minutes. Does the issue still occur? 0 Poblano OP Techandy Nov 18, 2013 at 10:55 UTC Hi Chris, I'm using AppSense, so no login scripts run in my environment. Basically, I've a Gold Image Windows 7 Desktop and I publish it to 300 Staff. Yet randomly this issue occurs. I'm using XenDesktop. I'm pretty sure its a Windows configuration issue, hence I didnt think to look anywhere else. I've checked and there is tons of free memory, each machine has 3GB and is using around 1GB after the user logs in. If the user waits, this has no impact as the user could be there all day and the issue still occurs. I do have a 4GB page file set up, but I'm not using the ClearPageFileAtShutdown switch, could this be a good thing to try? If the user logs off then back on the issue is resolved Cheers And 0 Datil OP chris.hone.5688 Nov 18, 2013 at 11:01 UTC have you tried running a clean boot on the system http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
0 Poblano OP Techandy Nov 18, 2013 at 11:13 UTC Hi Chris, I've tried that. The problem is that the occurance is random, so it works both when the machine is booted in safemode and when the unit is booted in normal mode. It is only on a random boot that the issue occurs. Is there any way to look more in-depth at the Explorer.exe's memor
