Windows 7: Error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program" Page 1 of 3 1 23 > 23 Feb 2011 there is not enough free memory. quit one or more programs #1 metallicart Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit 10 posts Germany Error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program" Hey there... it all started out when i was trying to install VisualStudio 2008 C# Express Edition... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2329201 the first time i tried that it told me it couldn't access the specified registry key, so i used subinacl to gain ownership and access on keys under CLASSES_ROOT\VisualStudio* ...only the wildcard function didn't work, so it tried to modify the whole hive - and of course it failed... when i rebooted, not only did VisualStudio still not work, but i had no sound (device not recognized or something, i couldn't have a look) and Windows Explorer basically didn't work... the http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/146402-error-there-not-enough-free-memory-run-program.html whole appereance and desktop worked, but i couldn't open anything with it, it stated "There is not enough free memory to run this program", which is complete bullcrap, i had over 1.2 GB free and available... so i couldn't even open Control Panel or anything... luckily i was able to use system restore in the pre-boot repair options of Win 7 then - and that set everything back to normal (kudos, that went as it was supposed to be for once) ...and never touched VisualStudio again - till lately i tried the exact same thing again i thought maybe all the updates i downloaded could have helped... yeah fat chance -.- or maybe NOW there was a simple solution out there... and i thought i could always use system restore if it went wrong - naive me relying on windows -.- this time it did NOT work, it stated it couldn't unpack all of the restore point due to too little free disk space - so it ended up doing nothing at all i used the way better SetACL to gain access to pretty much all of my registry, to maybe solve some accessing-errors, but... nah... that didn't solve anything (it DID work though, VisualStudio can now access the registry apparently, now i get another message saying "object reference not set to an instance" when i try to open a new project of any kind - but that's a differend story...

CAUSE This problem triggers, when there is insufficient Outlook memory to display the folder. not enough There could be one or multiple reasons for the cause of this issue. Due to this error, the user is unable to archive mailbox items, add a large file or even add new contact to the contact list. This error message is generally displayed when Outlook mailbox has reached its maximum size limit. Another reason, which can trigger this problem, is memory to run the customization setting that you have made to view folder (for example you may have applied any filter). When using BCM for Outlook, the add-in activates every folder in the store profile, which eventually consumes memory. Such shared memory can create large accumulation of folders and items and hence deplete the memory. RESOLUTION To fix this insufficient memory error, follow the below provided manual method that explains how to modify the registry. Although serious issues may appear to the user, if the registry is modified incorrectly. For this, make sure the steps are followed precisely. For additional purpose of safety, you may take the backup of the registry (based upon your Windows OS) prior to performing the modifications. So that if any problems appears, then you can successfully restore it. MANUAL WORKAROUND 1. Close Outlook application. 2. Go to Start button, then click Run and write regedit. Hit enter. 3. Search and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem 4. Go to Edit menu, and then point to New. Now select DWORD Value. 5. Type SharedMemMaxSize, and again hit Enter. 6. Perform right-click operation on SharedMemMa

TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hi All, Having a re-occuring issue in my environment. Users are getting this error: Explorer.exe there is not enough free memory to run this program. This occurs on login, so the user will double-click My Computer or try and open a network drive. All the PC's are the same, image/software wise. I've tried changing the Windows Explorer.exe memory to 20MB but this hasn't worked. Any ideas? It may be that something is still processing in the background and consuming memory. What happens if they weight a few minutes. Does the issue still occur? 0 Poblano OP Techandy Nov 18, 2013 at 10:55 UTC Hi Chris, I'm using AppSense, so no login scripts run in my environment. Basically, I've a Gold Image Windows 7 Desktop and I publish it to 300 Staff. Yet randomly this issue occurs. I'm using XenDesktop. I'm pretty sure its a Windows configuration issue, hence I didnt think to look anywhere else. I've checked and there is tons of free memory, each machine has 3GB and is using around 1GB after the user logs in. If the user waits, this has no impact as the user could be there all day and the issue still occurs. I do have a 4GB page file set up, but I'm not using the ClearPageFileAtShutdown switch, could this be a good thing to try? If the user logs off then back on the issue is resolved Cheers And 0 Datil OP chris.hone.5688 Nov 18, 2013 at 11:01 UTC have you tried running a clean boot on the system http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
0 Poblano OP Techandy Nov 18, 2013 at 11:13 UTC Hi Chris, I've tried that. The problem is that the occurance is random, so it works both when the machine is booted in safemode and when the unit is booted in normal mode. It is only on a random boot that the issue occurs. Is there an
