Dvd Drive Application Not Found
using DVD player onlaptop Byfire chief Mar 25, 2008 I have an IBM ThinkPad that has a cdrw/dvd drive. When I use the cdrw/dvd drive for dvds, I get a "0 not found" error message. The dvd does start to run on windows media player (and Interactual DVD player when I try it), but the error message pops up and stops e application not found windows 8 the player. The movie is still showing behind the message box and will resume when I click on the OK in the message box, but just seconds later the error message comes back and stops the movie again. As long as the OK is clicked the movie will play and sound is present. I can use the cd player without any error messages, but the dvd player always brings up the error message. Any ideas as to what is going on ???? I make my living with this thing and have allot of stuff in the HD some backed up but some not so what I'm asking is what should I do? Am I screwed? The hard drive is a Hitachi Travelstar model HTS726060M9AT00 60GB 7200RPM ATA/IDE the rest of the info is as follows: BIOS Version: A05 Application CPU: Enabled Level 2 Cash: 1024KB System Memory: 3.4 GHz 1024 MB @ 400 MHz video controller: ATI Radeon 9700 Video Memory: 128 MB Panel Type: 15.4" Wide UXGA Audio Controller: sigmatel 9750 modem Controller: Conexant D480 MDC Primary Hard Drive: None Modular Bay: DVD+/-RW System D-Bay: Not Installed Really appreciate any help, thanks. burnout, Jan 7, 2006 #1 DCO57 Private E-2 Burnout- First isolate the software possibilities. I've never had a problem with this PC until this morning when I got the error "Primary drive 0 not found, Primary drive 1 not found". No matter what I do, I can't get past this error. I pulled primary boot drive and attached it to my notebook via USB cable and was able to read and retrieve data files, so the drive isn't the problem. I've checked the cables to see if they were loose but still no luck. Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance 2 10/28/2007 (6:48 am) by Nicole George Nicole George (113 Posts) what type HDD is it that you can USB it to your notebook? 3 10/28/2007 (4:19 pm) by Len Len (2 Posts) hear2lern, The HDD is an IDE and I use one of those $20 USB/IDE Adapters (slick little bugger). Also, I found out more since my first post. I disconnected both cables and ran the primary cable to the CD and DVD drives, and the secondary cable to the two HDDs. Now I can see the HDDs and boot successfully but I can't see the CD and DVD drives. It's looking more like the primary cable circuit on the mother board but I'm hoping for a less expensive solution. 4 10/29/2007 (3:48 pm) by Raymond Raymond (16 Posts) Sounds like you many have a bad cable. 5 10/30/2007 (3:51 pm) by awesomeo awesomeo (2229 Posts) Ditto on the bad cable. 6 2/15/2008 (2:10 pm) by Gerald Porche Gerald Porche (49 Posts) I'd try a new cable first
