But in order to apache apr-util do that I need to create an apr-util rpm of a recent enough version to support it. So running the rpmbuild command against the spec file I'm getting this error: checking db1/db.h usability... no checking db1/db.h presence... no checking for db1/db.h... no checking https://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-users/2011-July/024705.html db.h usability... no checking db.h presence... no checking for db.h... no checking for Berkeley DB 1 in the standard places... checking db_185.h usability... no checking db_185.h presence... no checking for db_185.h... no *checking for Berkeley DB... not found* *configure: error: Berkeley DB not found.* error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.yh0jGv (%build) It's claiming that https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2015-March/150816.html Berkeley DB isn't installed. But to me it looks like I have the right libraries: [root at repo:~] #rpm -qa | grep db4 libdb4-utils-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-devel-static-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-devel-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 This is the part of the spec file that calls for db4: %configure --with-apr=%{_prefix} \ --includedir=%{_includedir}/apr-%{apuver} \ --with-ldap --without-gdbm \ --with-sqlite3 --with-pgsql --with-mysql --with-freetds --with-odbc \ --with-berkeley-db \ --with-crypto --with-openssl --with-nss \ --without-sqlite2 So my questions for today are, do I need to provide a path to the --with-berkeley-db flag? If so, how do I determine the path to give it? Lastly, is db4 really necessary to the build of apr-util? Would it be completely wrong just to build the rpm without it? The process is very simple. For this https://geeksww.com/tutorials/libraries/apr_util/installation/installing_apache_portable_runtime_utility_library_on_ubuntu_linux.php tutorial, I'll be installing apr-util version 0.9.13. Linux kernel is 2.6.15-26-powerpc. I https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20995305/configure-error-Berkeley-db4-not-found.html have used a Mac Mini (powerpc/ppc architecture). GCC version number is 4.0.3. Your configuration may be different from mine but the installation steps below should work fine for most configurations with little or no change at all (including other Linux distributions and even unixes e.g. MacOS X). Apache Portable Runtime not found and Apache Portable Runtime Utility Project: According to apr.apache.org, "The mission of the Apache Portable Runtime (APR) project is to create and maintain software libraries that provide a predictable and consistent interface to underlying platform-specific implementations. The primary goal is to provide an API to which software developers may code and be assured of predictable if not identical behaviour regardless of the platform configure error berkeley on which their software is built, relieving them of the need to code special-case conditions to work around or take advantage of platform-specific deficiencies or features." Before starting, please check to see if there is a more up-to-date version available to download. Visit http://apr.apache.org/ to find out about the available versions. IMPORTANT: See "Configuring Ubuntu Linux After Installation" to install the development tools required to compile and install apr-util from source code. Also, see Installing Apache Portable Runtime (apr) Library on Ubuntu Linux and Installing Oracle Berkeley DB on Ubuntu Linux to install apr and Berkeley DB before you install apr-util. Please note that installation of Berkeley DB is not mandatory for apr-util. Steps to download, compile, and install are as follows. Note: Replace 0.9.13 with your version number: Downloading apr-util: Run the command below, wget http://apache.sunsite.ualberta.ca/apr/apr-util-0.9.13.tar.gz Also, download the MD5 hash to verify the integrity of the downloaded file. In the same folder, where you downloaded the file, do the following: wget http://www.apache.org/dist/apr/apr-util-0.9.13.tar.gz.md5 md5sum apr-util-0.9.13.tar.gz cat apr-util-0.9.13.tar.gz.md5 The last two commands (above) generate two strings of alpha-numeric characters. Solved configure: error: Berkeley db4 not found Posted on 2004-05-19 Databases 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 8,221 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 I'm trying to install Apache server 2.0.49 using Berkeley DB in Linux. I've installed Berkeley DB 4.2.52 over and over again, but every time I try to run the configure command for Apache, I keep getting configure: error: Berkeley db4 not found The configure command I run is: configure --prefix=$HOME/local --enable-dav --enable-so --with-berkeley-db=$HOME/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2 --with-dbm=db42 Everything seems to work fine until it starts checking for the Berkeley DB. I've installed the patches, but I still get the following output.
