assigned 8 participants psedik commented Jan 17, 2014 Hello Please can you help with building under Ubuntu, I am following the steps from here: https://github.com/miguelfreitas/twister-core/blob/master/doc/bulding-on-ubuntu-debian.md But when doing step 6., ./configure
Boost_system Library
--enable-logging --enable-debug --enable-dht The outcome is: checking for boostlib >= 1.36... yes checking whether the Boost::System library is available... yes configure: error: Boost.System library not found. Try using --with-boost-system=lib Why is the library available, but not found? I installed it in step 2 with "sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev". iShift commented Jan 17, 2014 and does it work with --with-boost-system=lib ? psedik commented Jan boost system library ubuntu 17, 2014 Then it says: configure: error: Could not link against boost_system-lib psedik commented Jan 17, 2014 Great, I fixed the problem by following the hint in this discussion: bitcoin/bitcoin#3219 For 64-bit Ubuntu, it seems the correct command is this: ./configure --enable-logging --enable-debug --enable-dht --with-boost-libdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu So this Issue can be Closes (Sorry I didn't find a way how to do that). brunobord commented Jan 17, 2014 you can't close an issue if you don't have write access to it, but I wouldn't close this issue until someone's amending the documentation to help 64-bit-Ubuntu-users. brunobord commented Jan 17, 2014 btw, refs #88 basst85 commented Jan 18, 2014 Try this: ./bootstrap.sh --with-boost-libdir=/usr/lib or: ./bootstrap.sh --with-boost-libdir=/usr/lib64 toyg commented Jan 18, 2014 @brunobord @psedik which document were you looking at, exactly? Because the build docs I read three weeks ago were littered with recommendations about this. If we've lost them, that is an issue. miguelfreitas pushed a commit that closed this issue Jan 18, 2014 iShift #91 Support Search GitHub This repository Watch 1,214 Star 10,042 Fork 6,672 bitcoin/bitcoin Code Issues 407 Pull requests 140 Projects 6 Pulse configure error could not find a version of the library boost Graphs New issue Default boost 1.53 on Ubuntu 13.10 doesn't work #3219 Closed sipa opened configure error boost.python library not found this Issue Nov 7, 2013 · 28 comments Projects None yet Labels Build system Milestone No milestone Assignees No one assigned 10 participants Bitcoin https://github.com/miguelfreitas/twister-core/issues/91 member sipa commented Nov 7, 2013 As reported by a few people on IRC. Installing libboost-{system,filesystem,chrono,program-options,thread,test}1.54{-dev,.0} manually seems to work. gaston23 commented Nov 7, 2013 👍 (personally) confirmed. Bitcoin member laanwj commented Nov 7, 2013 How does it not work? Does it generate an error message during runtime or compilation? https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/3219 If so which one? gaston23 commented Nov 7, 2013 @laanwj it prevents compilation checking for boostlib >= 1.20.0... yes checking whether the Boost::System library is available... yes configure: error: Could not find a version of the library! Bitcoin member laanwj commented Nov 7, 2013 Can you pastebin the config.log somewhere? gaston23 commented Nov 7, 2013 @laanwj I think it's too late, if config.log is not appended each time configure is exec, then mine only have the logs after installing proper packages sipa said and there fore it compiled properly (except for bdb too which was throwing an error).
