I get this error on the ./configure stage of install. I don't know how to set the path variable for glib_config. Is there a known deb file for install on my version? I have tried looking but nothing yet. Can someone please help me out? You will need to install glib1.2-dev or find its source to run. I don't know the application but that would suggest that it's fairly old.216 Views · View UpvotesView More AnswersRelated QuestionsHow do I get rid of the "grub-install.real: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/sdX. pkg-config errors when Installing SYSLOG-NG Issues related to software problems. I have downloaded the prerequisites including EventLog and Glib which both are installed. When I move into the SYSLOG-NG install directory and type "./configure" I get the following error at the end when it stops...> checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config> checking pkg-config is at least version 0.14... yes> checking for GLIB - version >= 2.10.1... yes (version 2.12.3)> checking for EVTLOG... no> configure: error: Cannot find eventlog version >= 0.2: is pkg-config in path?> [root@centos syslog-ng-3.0.1]# The strange thing is I have recently fixed this this error (!) by following another post and then got the error...checking for GLIB - version >= 2.10.1... *** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.18.0, but GLIB (2.12.3)*** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best*** to remove the old version of GLib. You may also be able to fix the error*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is*** required on your system.*** If pkg-config was wrong, set the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH*** to point to the correct configuration filesnoconfigure: error: Cannot find GLIB version >= 2.10.1: is pkg-config in path?I have tried installing a couple of versions of GLIB - does it not upgrade / replace the previous version?Another question I have is is there a problem with running "./configure" more than once, which may account for the differing errors each time? - If so how do I clean up the installations / system to do it from fresh? This has been my first attempt at installing applications outside of "Yum" and it's proving more difficult than expected.I am going to read up on exactly what pkg-config is all about but thought I'd register this problem as it's been troubling me for days and someone else may have come across it before.Thanks...
