This also seem to occur with PHP 4.3.11.

Configure outputs 'checking for the location of libjpeg... yes' because you have '--with-jpeg-dir', not that it found it. on a 64 bit dedicated server went fine, but PHP compilation is giving me grief. The server is CentOS 5.4, pretty bare. configure: error: libjpeg.(a|so) not found.
