I am using Texstudio http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/199225/package-pdftex-def-error to edit the word. When I try to insert a .eps format figure, this error happens. Error: Package pdftex.def Error The code is: \documentclass{book} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage{epstopdf} \usepackage{graphics} \begin{document} \begin{figure} \includegraphics{123.eps} \end{figure} \end{document} Thanks a lot, Hannah graphics texstudio share|improve this question edited Sep 3 '14 at 7:36 user11232 asked Sep 3 '14 at 7:31 hannah z 21112 You have to compile with --shell-escape like pdflatex --shell-escape yourfile for epstopdf to work properly. Also use graphicx instead of graphics. Note the x at the end. Don't load graphics as you are loading graphicx. –user11232 Sep 3 '14 at 7:37 Welcome to TeX.SX! You can have a look at our starter guide to familiarize yourself further with our format. PdfTeX can't work with eps files, thats why an extra run is required in the background that you have to allow using the --shell-escape switch. –Johannes_B Sep 3 '14 at 7:39 See tex.stackexchange.com/questions/1072 and tex.stackexchange.com/questions/383 –Joseph Wright♦ Sep 3 '14 at 8:08 add a comment| 4 Answ

I use the following preamble: \documentclass[pdftex,12pt,a4paper,openany]{memoir} \usepackage[brazil]{babel} \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage{indentfirst} \usepackage{latexsym} \usepackage{amsmath,amssymb,amsfonts,wasysym} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage[help]{epspdfconversion} \usepackage[left=3cm,right=2cm,top=3cm,bottom=2cm]{geometry} \usepackage[center]{caption} \usepackage{color} \setcounter{secnumdepth}{3} \setcounter{tocdepth}{3} \usepackage[pdftex, colorlinks=true, linkcolor=black, citecolor=black, urlcolor=black]{hyperref} \usepackage[all]{hypcap} and when I try to add a figure: \begin{figure} package pdftex.def error \includegraphics[scale=0.5]{ocupfd.eps} \caption{a} \end{figure} the program gives me the following error: Package pdftex.def Error: File `ocupfd-epspdf-to.pdf' not found What should I do? epstopdf share|improve this question edited Nov 15 '11 at 7:56 egreg 512k5913732429 asked Nov 14 '11 at 23:25 Rodrigo Thomas 2962311 1 Are you calling pdflatex with the -shell-escape option? If you don't need any of the fancy options of epspdfconversion, maybe \usepackage{epstopdf} will do, without even the command line option, if your TeX distribution is recent. –egreg Nov 14 '11 at 23:39 @egreg How do I execute this -shell-escapeoption? –Rodrigo Thomas Nov 15 '11 at 0:24 It depends on your settings: operating system and editor. –egreg Nov 15 '11 at 0:25 I use Ubuntu, and TeXMaker –Rodrigo Thomas Nov 15 '11 at 0:27 @egreg Could you tell me how do I execute the -shell-escapeoption for the TeXMaker on Ubuntu? –Rodrigo Thomas Nov 15 '11 at 1:21 | show 2 more comments 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 9 down vote accepted The epspdfconversion package needs that pdflatex is called with the command line option -shell-escape. How this is done depends much on what is the TeX environment
