Then you will start to see a count down that "In X day(s), Office applications will be marked as not genuine." Why is this happening? Microsoft, in there efforts to reduce software piracy, uses an update to prevent their software from being pirated. This mainly not genuine pertains to their Office suite products and operating systems. However, many complaints have been filed that people who bought legal licenses of office are generating this error. Microsoft's statement on false positives: "While a false positive is possible, it is extremely rare. Across over 200 million WGA validations, we have identified only a handful of false positives. Almost all of these were is not genuine due to data entry errors that were quickly corrected and only occurred for a short period of time." Microsoft's general fix for these errors? Well, that's where it gets tedious. If your copy is absolutely yours and you receive this error they tell you to contact your reseller or call Microsoft to hash out the problem.
