now and again exporting to a real phone I am not sure when this happened. What is the likely cause of it not installing on a physical phone but running fine in the emulators? I have tried rebooting the phone & removing the existing .apk, does not fix the fault. android android-emulator share|improve this question edited Apr 26 at 16:26 BartoszKP 22.2k84067 asked Nov 19 '10 at 14:52 Entropy1024 1,76962029 3 When you say you've removed the existing .apk do you mean you uninstalled the application from the phone? If not, uninstall the application before trying to install it again. –Telmo Marques Nov 19 '10 at 14:57 7 What TomS said, run adb uninstall your.package.name and then adb install /path/to.apk. I don't see why that wouldn't work. Have you changed anything in the signing procedure? –Felix Nov 19 '10 at 15:12 2 Have you tried debugging it directly from eclipse in the device connected to the computer to see if the log says anything more? –Javi Nov 19 '10 at 16:29 1 I did remove the app using the uninstall option from the application manager on the phone. –Entropy1024 Nov 19 '10 at 16:43 Felix. Everything works fine. I need to make it work on the emulator too, so I created a new AVD and I started my application. As soon as the emulator appears I unlock it and there is no trace of my application. I've searched in every menu. So, I tried with a simple "Hello World" project but it's the same. I've also tried to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14197747/android-emulator-does-not-install-my-application stop the adb.exe process and I tried with the "kill-server" / "start-server" combination with no success. The weird thing is that there are no errors displayed in LogCat window, and the DDMS perspective does not recognize any virtual device. Also, I tried typing "adb -e devices" in console (of course, after I started a new emulator), but it seems it could not find any device. Someone knows how to solve it? Thank you in advance. android android-emulator avd share|improve this question edited Mar 12 '14 at 9:20 Paul Verest 13.7k2288173 asked Jan 7 '13 at 14:17 Michele Rullo 12539 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Solved! Here the steps: 1.Start the virtual device 2.Open the DDMS perspective 3.Open console, in the "platform-tools" directory type "adb kill-server" 4.Now, type "adb devices" 5.Check your DDMS perspective, now you should see the virtual device share|improve this answer answered Jan 8 '13 at 11:19 Michele Rullo 12539 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote change your workspace, create a new one... that helped me.. or if still not, reinstall the eclipse and plugins.. also, i'd encounter that my doesnt install because i changed the android:name in manifest of the launcher activity.. dont change it keep it

So i started from some sample very simple to understand the steps to develop program. First i installed SDK, then I create an android emulator with AVD and start it. I can also open the samples in appmethod folder, compile them, and test the application in the debug mode in the android emulator (4.2.2). Inside the software emulator the application works fine. My problem is when i go in "release" mode, and i want to install the application on a real device. I can create APK package, with deploying, but when i move this file to a real device , and i tap the file to install it, after few seconds appear the error message "Application not installed". I tryed to execute the installation procedure on several device (Huawey, samsung, htc) but same message with "Application not installed". So I'm quite sure that my apk package is missing something or have some problems. Does somebody have some ideas on this items? Thanks Last Edit: 1 year 5 days ago by maddesire M8483.
