Show 2 replies Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider Rod Jager Apr 29, 2010 12:52 AM (in response to Anil Konduri) Hi qlikviewgoer,I think this could be one of two problems.1.By default, when you test a connection https://community.qlik.com/thread/23564 Oracle uses a dummy username and password to connect to a data source so it could be that the test tried to pass through an invalid username/password combination. To fix this look for a box that says something like change login details.2. The error could be because your Oracle service is not set up properly i.e. you need to either copy over the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from a valid installation or recreate the services on your machine using the client tools. Use the Oracle client tools to ensure that the service is configured properly.I hope this helps.Rod Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider Anil Konduri Apr 29, 2010 10:52 AM (in response to Anil Konduri) Thanks, its working... A) Is this a 64 bit machine? If so, the issue is most likely that the 32 bit Oralce Client and Oracle Provider for OLEDB have not been installed on the FDM application Server. If they have been installed, the proper TNSNAMES.ORA file with the connect descriptor for the database does not exist in the <32bitclientHome>\Network\Admin folder. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2.
