I used to be able to connect to the internet before with no problems. 2 wks ago, the Wireless connection started showing "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY", though, it can see all the wifi networks available in the area. Other computers and wifi enabled devices can http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/197132-limited-connectivity-dhcp-client-not-starting.html all connect easily to the same network. I've tried the following solutions(from the forums) already: -re-installing drivers, disabling-enabling network adapters -made sure the passwords are correct -disabling firewalls -turning on-off (5mins) the router +PC -removing and reloading the network -scanned software/hardware for problems thru built in "vaio care" (indicated that everything is running normally) I also tried to run the Network Diagnostics but this error msg always appear= "The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running."- even if i run it as an administrator.. Checked the Local Services and found out that DHCP Client is not running- Tried starting it several times but it won't start and this error msg always appear "Windows could not start the DHCP CLient service on local Comp. Error 5: Access is denied." I'd appreciate any help/assistance/idea from anyone. Been trying to sort this one out for 4 days now, and still found no solution. Thanks for taking time in reading this. DHCP Client error 2 Started by BCTurtle , Feb 10 2013 07:36 PM Please log in to reply 9 replies to this topic #1 BCTurtle BCTurtle Members 22 posts OFFLINE Local time:10:03 PM Posted 10 February 2013 - 07:36 PM Background: I've been having an issue on my system after installing and then removing Jetico Personal Firewall. It completely screwed up my network connection. Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 I've searched all over the net and tried various fixes, including many from this site: DHCP Client - "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified" when I try to start it in the Services. All dependencies are there: AFD, Tdx (NetIO), Network Store Interface Service. I've tried sfc /scannow and came up clean. netsh int ip reset C:\reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog Added permissions to registry keys for dhcp and tcpip. Device Manager (show hidden) has AFD, tdx, NSI all running and set to start at boot. Restore points are gone, so not a possible solution. Thanks in advance!
