try to start wampapache service manually, it throws following error: Windows could not start the wampapache service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond ot the start or control request in a timely fashion. apache_error.log is empty. Run Depends on the services that aren't starting and see if there is a side-by-side or missing DLL issue. I opened up services.msc from the command prompt, disabled both these services and WAMP Server works perfectly now with no localhost problem. Thanks to all those who provided the answers
