Guest This error message has been coming up a lot. The title bar of the window says "16 bit Windows subsystem." I'd like to get rid of it, it's very irritating. Aside from the error message coming up pretty much constantly, things seem to be working normally. Short story long, I went to the link, which did a scan of the registry and wanted me to pay to fix the errors. I did a search of files and folders and found that part of iTunes downloaded. I then went to add remove programs and found iTunes listed. Clicked on iTunes and clicked on "click ntvdm encountered a here for support information”. Went to the bottom of the window and clicked on "repair”. Received a message window that told me my "Windows Installation” program was in error. Found a "Windows Installation 4.5” upgrade at Microsoft, loaded it went back in and repaired the iTunes partial program and life is good. Pack 4. Now everytime I install a 16 bit application and try to run it I get the following error message: 16-bit Windows Subsystem NTVDM has encountered a System Error The handle is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. CLOSE IGNORE If I click on 'Close' the application will continue to load and run fine if it is a Windows application. If it is a DOS application the DOS window will just close. Does anybody have any suggestion for this problem (I already reinstalled NT 3 times)? Thanks in advance Serge Top 1. NTVDM has encountered a System Error Using Win XP Pro on a 128M, 1.0 Ghz Athlon...ok, so we're using FoxPro 2.5 (I know! I know! we're in process of upgrading our tracking system now!), and on this one PC I keep seeing "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem- NTVDM has encountered a System Error. Access is denied. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application" You can choose "Close" or "Ignore". This is sporadic, as FoxPro works w/o issue most of the time on XP (a few expected quirks aside)...what does this sort of message hint towards? Thanks! 2. manual install of modem drivers? 3.
